About The Forgotten

Environment

The Forgotten's environment is amazingly stunning, yet terrifying. Walk through the lush birch forest to the sparse snowy capped mountains. Be careful when you are travelling as there is always bound to be something around any corner or behind any tree.
There are many locations in The Forgotten, anything from a town, to caves all with unique horrors to discover and they all have something new to help you uncover what is happening in this forgotten valley.

Story

You and some friends are on a hiking trip. You stop to set up camp for the night as it is already pitch black. When you wake it is still pitch black but you can hear screaming in the distance, you go to look but all your friends are gone. YOU must now venture through the terrifying valley to find what happened to your friends but watch out as depending on what you do will determine which ending you will get. There are 3 endings all with their own unique way of portraying the story.

Game-Play

When venturing through the unique map of The Forgotten you can come across many locations and strange dynamic experiences. Enemies may come out of no where and attack you, some enemies will just follow you and observe what you do. Keep a keen eye out for items that can help you, or items that could unlock a door or discover a key item that is needed for a puzzle. There are many collectibles around the games map that will give you hints as to what is happening and who these strange people in the valley really are.

Key-Features

The Forgotten has many features, from sneaking to avoid enemies or hiding in bushes all the way to real time events. While playing the forgotten enemies and animals will go along their daily life, this also means that the enemies won't wait for you to save your friends, if you're too slow they may be gone forever.

Okay, I will start by saying the current game version is much better than it was on release. Also who only plays a game for less than an hour and the reviews it! I was going to play for awhile longer but all the negative reviews are unfair. This game is fun, nicely detailed and has great landscapes to explore. The lighting is also great. Theres an interesting lore to it to. I would however like to see an improvement in the AI system and a bit of help in direction. Follow the paths if you get lost but it doesn't matter too much because then you get to explore the very nice landscape. Solid effort with this game, plenty of good about it but also a few things to improve on. Overall I'd recommend playing this game. Remember it has been developed by an indie developer and not a big company like Capcom etc. Happy gaming everyone :)

Let me first say that although I don't think this game is properly polished yet, for a one-person indie game there is A LOT that this experience does really well. The atmosphere is quite creepy, the landscape and textures are beautifully detailed, the lighting and flashlight effects are photo realistic, and The Forgotten avoids the cardinal sin of most first-person games: we have a body! Nothing worse than being a disembodied perspective in a world, so it's nice to have such a well-detailed body to help us feel we're in the world. Other nice touches include an excellent, creepy soundtrack, and the courtesy to provide us a crouch toggle so we can crouch without having to hold a button down. The game attempts to do something really brave by immersing us in a world in which we know almost nothing except that our friends have vanished. The game drops us in a creepy world filled with monsters, and gives almost no directions -- in many games this setup would not work, but I found the mystery and my confusion really do add to the experience. The map turns out to be essential, as a result, otherwise I'd have been totally lost. That said, The Forgotten has some significant in-game issues,…
Warning: Asset Flip! The Forgotten is a Digital Homicide style asset flip, or what Valve calls a "Fake Game". The "developer" paid for/pirated a few Unity asset store packs, dumped them all in a blender, and submitted it to Valve as if they're real game developers.
Two notable criteria for what makes an asset flip instead of legitimate use of stock assets are whether those assets comprise the majority of the game, and whether the "developer" properly credited the people who created most of the assets in the game. This game fails both of those tests. The "developers" here didn't credit any of the artists and real, actual game developers who created the assets here, so this is plagiarism, as well as cash grab shovelware. It's not hard to write a credits page... unless you don't want people to know this isn't actually your work and you're trying to get paid for putting your name on other people's assets. In this case, the asset flipper took a bunch of Unity assets and tried to make some kind of first person horror adventure game with them (there's literally thousands of these infesting Steam, most are Russi…

Had some bugs at launch, but it seems like most games today are like that. The dev has worked hard to remove bugs and add features requested by the community to help players. Definitely not the most scary horror game out there, but is a fun adventure, story game with some great music tracks. Achievements were not working through most of my play through but recently the game updated and they seem to be working now.

I completely agree with decorus_veritas in their review of the game. I did get further in getting the keycard and going inside but as I unlocked the next door with a code there was a second door with a code that took me forever to find. When I finally came back the first door was now locked and trying to enter the keycode or any keys at all wouldn't even work so I had to give up on the game. I couldn't even try to run the game fresh because there is another bug that will not allow you to even "Create A New Game". It just loads the previous save and I'm stuck never able to unlock the first door. Decorus_veritas even posted their review a year ago and sadly the game still needs some work.

This game is spooky and atmospheric, and the graphics are really beautiful. So far, I've been lost at a few points, but the developer is working on updates to make prevent that kind of frustration in future. I'm curious to see how the mystery resolves, and if the pc survives. Would recommend.
