Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Players have mixed feelings about this hidden object game. Those who enjoy casual puzzle games find it acceptable for relaxation, praising its straightforward gameplay and circus theme, though some note the story is unclear or underdeveloped. Common complaints include overly small and flat-colored objects that are hard to distinguish, repetitive hidden object puzzles that wear thin quickly, and occasional frustrating mini-games, with most agreeing it's only worth a budget price.
Forgotten Places: Lost Circus is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as if it was a real PC game (it's not)... it's a cash grab from greedy mobile devs. It's a Hidden Object puzzle game, the type you normally see on mobile app stores or even as browser apps. There's literally hundreds of these on Steam, mostly published by Artifex Mundi, many of them free on mobile app stores, but this one will cost you money on Steam. There's a spooky circus theme to the game, but this is a just a veneer over a tired and overdone set of hidden object minigames and Adobe Flash tier puzzles, wrapped together with a bunch of static screens that you "move" through by tapping your finger on your iPhone screen. This is significantly worse in quality than the usual copy + pasted Artifex Mundi mobile apps. While these kinds of games are popular amongst casual gamers, it's difficult to argue this is a great value proposition as a PC game, especially considering the price of this compared to the hundreds of free HOGs on the mobile app stores. From a technical perspective, as a mobile app, this doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to …4 found this helpful
This is a fun little game. It's a simple, straight-forward hidden objects game with little puzzles and mini-games. The story is sweet and simple. If you are looking for a challenge, this isn't it. It's casual, that's it. Since I couldn't care less about achievements, I did skip through the spinning plates puzzle, . The puzzle is fine, but a bit obnoxious because it's near impossible to keep those plates all going at once, at least for me. Otherwise, nice little game.
objects are too small, colors are too flat and cannot discern objects. buy at $0.50 only
This is a HOG game, plain and simple. If you like that type of puzzle - I mean Really like it - then you will enjoy this game because that is 99% of the puzzles. I had to take a break because I was getting a little tired of the monotony. The game switches between the spooky atmospheric abandoned circus - and the very cheery and garish real circus. I honestly preferred the spooky scenes and rushed through the rest when I could, turning down the chipper music. I'm intrigued enough by the story to finish it, but I'm definitely not going to finish it in one sittlng like I would most other games of this kind. ^-^
It's not an awful game, but the main plot (searching for an animal) is VERY long winded, and by the end of the game, I still have no idea what happened story wise. :/
It was a fun quick game...some of the levels are a little challenging
