Damn! This is one tough game! Not only it is tough due to the puzzles, (actually including a puzzle with not one, but TWO sliding puzzle pieces... That needs 59 steps to resolve (someone actually wrote a guide for it...)) it also tests your patience! And I mean it. This game... While really pretty and a sheep ton of effort and goodness went into it... Is slow when you move. If you are used to "instant" image changes between clicks? LOL! You are in for some "fun"........ But that's not all. The whole castle and surrounding area? IS HUGE! You are like "duh, why you tell me this?" Well... Because there is no Map Teleport. Yep. You will rely solely not only on your memory... But also tell me how much you will enjoy backtracking 30 million times to just stick a single object somewhere that was in the beginning! I SAY that... Because your inventory IS LIMITED! You see that bar? That's all you can hold. No scrolling to the side. None of that! You can't pick up jack if you are full! That 30+ item H.O. game got nothing on this one lol! But okay. Let's not get discouraged. Let's say you can be patient. I actually found a way to uhm "teleport". If you click the…

I normally love hidden object games but I just found this one frustrating and not enjoyable at all. The problem were mostly the controls, some of the minigames being stupid hard and having to restart the game ever 20-30 minutes due to it becoming extremely laggy otherwise.

Forgotten Places: Regained Castle is a traditional hidden-object adventure that leans heavily into gothic mystery, slow-burn storytelling, and methodical puzzle solving, offering a calm but atmospheric experience that feels rooted in classic point-and-click design. From the outset, the game establishes a somber tone by drawing players into the personal history of its protagonist, Jane, whose past is deeply entangled with an old castle and the secrets it contains. Rather than rushing the player forward, the game allows its narrative to unfold gradually, using exploration and environmental details to build a sense of lingering unease and curiosity that steadily pulls you deeper into its world. The castle itself is the true centerpiece of the experience, presented as a sprawling collection of interconnected locations that feel abandoned, weathered, and full of forgotten stories. Each screen is carefully illustrated with a high level of detail, encouraging close inspection during object searches and puzzle interactions. Crumbling halls, shadowy gardens, underground passages, and ornate rooms all contribute to a setting that feels cohesive and deliberately paced. The visual style favor…

It's ok. Not my favorite, a bit clunky, but still a nice way to use time.

First of all this is the first game where it had a semi-realistic depiction of a castle and its grounds, including a wine cellar, bakery, armoury, and stables. Add in an abandoned wing and a hedge maze, it made for quite a sprawling game! There are 57 distinct scenes (you can find a collectable in each one). Which sounds amazing but is also really difficult. I advise taking notes because when you have to juice a pomegranate you might forget about the wine press in the cellar you found hours ago :P. The story is entertaining, if a little cliche - everybody who has been murdered has died at the castle! - so... just leave? No. Ok. ;) But it was enjoyable. ^-^
