About Frontiers Reach

Take control of a powerful starfighter and enter a conflict stretching across the frontier. Tackle story missions, side operations, and high-stakes combat scenarios as you battle enemy forces, support the war effort, and adapt your ship to each mission. With customizable loadouts and fast-paced space battles that change the shape of the conflict, every mission gives you another chance to prove yourself among the stars.

An epic story of survival in an interstellar war

It is the year 2230. After nearly 100 years of expansion and colonization in space, the human species now stands on the brink of war. On one side is the corrupt and aging Sol Confederacy. On the other is the fledgling, Frontier Republic.

Neither one is willing to compromise and the coming war will see entire worlds decimated for it.

But way out on the fringes of colonized space. On a lonely moon called Frontiers Reach. Captain Anya Zuban and First Mate Rhen Malavik are prepping their vessel, the Heliosiren, to lead a group of survivors deep into uncharted space to escape the coming war.

Choose your loadout

Each fighter in your hangar performs different duties but you are not restricted from choosing any of them. Pick the one you want and customize numerous aspects of it. From the color of the paint to the different types of modules and weapons that can be equipped.

Join the war effort and fight for control over the frontier

With more than 30 different locations in space and on planets there is a wide diversity of environments to run missions in. Whether you're fighting battles to win over planets, running skirmishes on friendly nodes, or rescuing vessels in distress to add to your fleet.

Art and World Building like no other

A military science fiction fantasy based on reality; Frontiers Reach takes heavy inspiration from the Cold War Era of the real world to create a brand new realm in the genres of science fiction and space games. A heavily stylized art direction that focuses on capturing the magic of Atompunk, Cassette Futurism, and Retro-futurist art styles from the mid 20th century.

This game uses AI generated content in the following ways.

Some 2D character art.2 pieces of music. The main narrative voice which is about 2 hours of dialogue generated with Microsoft Azure Neuro-Voice, an AI playing the role of an AI.

The best thing about this game is that it isn't Ace Combat. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm a massive AC fanboy. I've got a stupid number of hours in 4, I damn near bought 7 on day one, and the Zero theme is still on my playlist, so let me be perfectly clear when I say that the biggest compliment I can give this game is that it's not Ace Combat. I've been looking for an arcade flight game that would scratch the itch I got from the AOA limiter from Project Wingman, and I've always wanted something that respected the inherent 3-D nature of space battlefields, and this game does both. When I first started playing, it took me about 2 hours of mucking about in the tutorial to get a handle on the controls, and for good reason. Unlike AC or PW, your inertia has a massive impact on your flight path. It's less about picking a line and following it like an arrow, and more like driving a car on drift tires through the sky. Once the controls clicks, it feels exactly as cool as that. I originally thought the controls weren't tight enough for the numerous tunnel sections the game throws at you in the first few missions, but the truth was that I was too used to gunning it through canyons in othe…

For a game that is designed, written and made by basically a single person is great. For a first game you can see they are trying and its a real hard try. Obviously the graphics are a little buggy, but new updates are bringing better performance. Cant wait to use my new hotas on it. Gameplay 6/10 Story 8/10 Performance 5/10 Effort 10/10

There was a time. When games created worlds not because they thought they would sell well and tick a lot of data-driven vantage points, but because they had a vision and a story to tell. When atmosphere was understood to be a powerful tool that could do a lot of work even when the rest of the game was basic in form and function. When mission structure was freeform enough to let you find your own playstyle within the framework of the game, and not simply press X to win. When storylines and game levels made coherent sense and the real joy of the game was unfolding a story piece by piece. When the technology of the game world worked in consistent ways, letting you feel like part of that world and not some gifted, miraculous outsider who just wins all the time because of plot advantages and console-difficulty. When a game didn't need to be the pinnacle of its art or the cutting edge of the industry in order to draw and command attention, because it had solid writing and crafted features that made it unique and valuable as a result. Frontiers Reach is such a game. Many will overlook this gem as too simplistic or repetitive, but they are wrong. If you played games during …

I gave this game a stinking review at first but then I put some effort into it and I like it. It is rough around the edges but the setting and the retro stuff are amazing. There is nothing wrong with flying, I like the flight and the feel of it but the game does suffer from info overload. It barrages you with stuff that you don't pay attention too because you're too busy flying. The first mission is hard but if you take bombs that can be dropped from high altitude blowing them fuel tanks are no problem. My only gripe is the box with the "loot" at the end of that first mission. I feel it's a bit too early for that and it comes as a surprise. The player needs to have at least practised a lot with indoor flying before such things - sure it feels good when you figure it out how but I also like getting my backside handed to me so I just keep trying. Anyway. Looking forward to Frontier Reach Mercenaries. Thumbs up.
