Prepare to play levels again and again to level up. Do yourself a favor and focus on leveling up your laser's as soon as possible or you will be on this game for a while. But as a Starfox clone, it gets the job done. But for on rail shooters, there are better games than this.

I really want to like this game. It looks great, and the flying feels good. Unfortunately I have died 3 times on the first level now and I have no desire to try it again. You can upgrade your ship so I think they expect some replaying of levels, but this mechanic would only work if this were a roguelike. Starting over a level in this game means replaying the exact same level. To be clear, I'm no scrub on rail shooters. I've beaten every Star Fox and Panzer Dragoon, but this game is just unforgiving and doesn't ease you into it at all. I feel like they overcomplicated this with the RPG elements and if they'd stuck to the basics it would be a solid game. I have no presence to grind in a rail shooter though.

What do you mean the Y-axis isn't inverted by default? Oh boy. Honestly, I don't know what I was expecting. I played the previous game some time ago, it was [i]fine[/i] but it certainly didn't blow me away or anything. I liked it enough for what it was, so when I saw this had come out I decided to give them another shot... and I can't say I feel like I made a good call there. It does at least [i]look[/i] nice, but I dunno, I'm just not feeling it. Maybe I'm just biased because I actually played SF64 on original hardware not too long ago, but this just does not feel [i]right[/i]. It doesn't help that the character voices are kinda annoying. Might give it another chance in the future, but for now I'm going with my gut. And my gut's telling me I'm not having fun right now, and that it's certainly not worth the price they're asking for it ($26 Canadian at time of writing; no, I'm not going to refund it, I'm going to hope that the money from this title might help them to make a better game later - that's hopefully [i]not[/i] just more VR training, dang it).

This game is clearly mimicking Star Fox 64 with a bit of it's own style, and I'd say it succeeds. The gameplay feels familiar and tight. It will definitely scratch that SF64 itch, if that's what you're looking for. But the developers managed to spin things enough that this feels like its own game, not just Star Fox at home. The art style and the writing all feel distinct in a way that I really like. The gameplay feels unique, as well. Instead of a certain number of bombs, you have a meter that powers your special weapon. This actually leads to one of the game's biggest flaws for me - you're able to unlock 4 special weapons that all behave differently, and you're able to switch between them on the fly. This could have led to some very fun and interesting gameplay, except that one of those weapons is clearly better than the rest. Aside from a few mini bosses that can only be hurt by specific weapons, I never felt the need to switch, and in fact felt that some parts of the game were almost too difficult with any other weapon. I haven't found anything in the way of branching paths or storylines, so the replay value may be limited beyond boss rushes, but if you're looking for…

A pleasant surprise! The first game felt more like a prototype than the real deal. A fun prototype mind you, but too short and simple for me to recommend. This sequel on the other hand is a MAJOR improvment over the first1 It's still not the expertedly made starfox successor people search BUT...it DO succeed at being a star fox game, and a good one. The graphic are more fledged out, stages are longer, there are more mechanic at play that felt right, and the game clearly have the heart at the right place! It may still be rough around some edges, but i still enjoyed my time with it, and count taken of how much of a upgrade it is over the previous game, i'll definitely be on the lookout of what they'll do next! I recommend! :)

Really dislike them artificially making the mouse controls suck to encourage analog. At least that's what I assume must be the case.
