About Gathering Sky

Gathering Sky is a playful, beautiful experience about a flock of birds on a journey across the sky. It starts with a single bird. Use your mouse to steer and grow your flock or let your birds find their own way. Dance in the winds of a far-away world and create an emotional story without words.

The world is brought to life by an original score by Dren McDonald performed by the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

Gathering Sky is enjoyable with any skill level and can be finished in under an hour.
Recommended as an experience
Even though this is a game, I would recommend it as an experience. Don't go with the mentality of deep gameplay, buy it with the mentality of buying a ticket to a museum or the theater, and for the duration of your stay you get an aesthetically pleasing and relaxing experience. As a game it is engaging but not profound (And that is good, otherwise it would only harm the intended experience), as an experience it is well worth the price. AGAIN DON'T EXPECT TO PLAY AN RPG, GO WITH THE EXPECTATIONS OF ARTISTIC APPRECIATION. Also, don't become Scrooge, don't buy then refund, give the devs their earned reward for the work.

It's not as much of a game as it is a visualized concert/musical performance in form of leading a flock of crows. The price is also around a ticket to one...or much less given the inflation these days. About 45min of intense escape from reality through music and artistic expression across 5 chapters of varying intensity and mood. We can lead the birds as we wish, bump into some objects to make them produce more sounds and cut through clouds making lines. It's a peaceful gameplay focused on immersion with the music that hopefully will make you feel wide range of emotions in short time span :3 It reminds me of a trip years ago when mom took me a small cathedral housing massive organs. There was a similar kind of performance played there and the building had decorations that moved in harmony with the mood of the tune. It's pretty much a digitized idea of such but greatly enhanced. I think it's easily one of the examples of "yes, video games are a form of art".

Gorgeous interactive art experience with stunning visuals, amazing music, and a light narrative arc. It's a short and pretty linear experience and you don't have a lot of control or agency as the player, but if you go into it expecting something like an abstract music visualizer with narrative and interactive elements you'll enjoy it.

Bought this because it'd been advertised as being relaxing and peaceful. Sadly I'd have to categorise it as actually quite stressful and rather upsetting, as you constantly lose birds to frustrating and opaque mechanics. Without any sufficient tutorial, choice of difficulty, or really any introduction to the mechanics, I "lost" my first game. My entire flock had died. Frankly, I really didn't want to repeat this experience, so I quit and haven't touched it since. Thus I cannot recommend this game to anyone.

Gathering Sky is a short and casual adventure game where you only need your mouse to control. Take a flock of birds through their migration in a journey through the skies, sometimes in a serene, calm atmosphere, and other times in a rather more emotionally charged sequence. Aided by the beautiful work of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, which excellently sets the mood throughout in a fantastic score. It can be completed in about 40 minutes. Worth getting if you want to sit down and relax through a short game you can finish in that time.
