I get not liking achievements, and I get feeling the need to put them in to boost sales - but making a completely unobtainable achievement in the game as some kind of... what, statement? "art" decision? It's childish. Moreover, it seems about 5% of the people who've really played this game agree based on the steam stats. Even without the achievement that needs cheating, this game is basic and boring, and loves throwing colours and random text at you to give it some semblance of individuality is insulting at best, and downright deceptive at worst. This game isn't much of anything, it doesn't have much substance, it doesn't have a "message", and it isn't fun. Don't buy this product. It's not worth your money, and neither does the developer deserve it.5 found this helpful
i dont know how exactly this got into my library but for years i decide to reinstall it and play it a bit, its actually so stupidly fun, along with having really good music.1 found this helpful
GAUGE is exactly what it promises: a stripped-down, experimental sport experience laser-focused on rhythm, timing, and psychedelic visuals. Played exclusively on my Steam Deck OLED (SteamOS/Linux), it ran flawlessly – even installed on a Micro SD card. No crashes, hitches, or compatibility issues whatsoever. The Good: Hypnotic & Unique: The minimalist visuals combined with intense psychedelic effects and pulsing electronic music create a genuinely unique, trance-like atmosphere. It feels more like an interactive art piece than a traditional game. Deck-Perfect: Runs like a dream on the Steam Deck. Simple controls suit the handheld perfectly. Variety: The 5 different game modes offer distinct challenges, and the achievements provide goals. Pure Challenge: It's undeniably difficult and requires precise focus. You will feel the tension. Be Aware: Brutally Hard: The difficulty curve is steep. I personally lost interest before finishing simply because it demanded more persistence than I had at the time. It's rewarding but punishing. Extremely Minimalist: "Simple graphics" is an understatement. The visuals are stark, relying entirely on the psychedelic effects for impact. This is …1 found this helpful
So, people seem to be VERY upset about a few things about the game. And I think all major criticisms are not valid. For the record the game is only $4. So my expectations are low, but not too low. The first major complaint about GAUGE is the artstyle. I think any art is subjective and theres no point in discussing it. the second complaint people seem to have is achievements. If you want to 100% the game then just dont play the game? Also, people saying "you lost a sale" in the steam forums are a joke. You think someone that made this "game" really gives a poop about your money? It's $4 for baba's sake. Just ignore the 100% the game and you'll be fine. Lastly people complain about "getting bored" Okay? Its a game that SPECIFICLY has only one goal. litteraly the whole name is about the one goal. the gauge. fill as much as you can without hiting the limit. With killing floor 3, payday3, assasins creed shadows, battlefield 2042, and other games with the same safe bland corpo artsyle and game mechanics and micro-transactions, do people actually still wonder why a game that is just made to entertain and doesn't have all the micro-transaction bloat, is doing so well? The game is good if …
Brain damage simulator.
Entertaining game about trying to nearly fill a gauge. My favorite part by far is that this game has an impossible achievement, which prevents you from filling the achievement bar, lust like the bar in the game. I really respect the artistic vision, and am incredibly entertained by the fact that completionist crybabies got really mad at the developer for creating a piece of art that doesn't cater to the very specific way they think games and achievements should work. "I don't try to be a rebel, I just play with your expectations, that's the purpose of making games, pushing and using the rules to bring players to some new places they wouldn't expect." - Étienne Périn
