The Dirt
Really enjoyed this game! It's a fun mix between base building, crafting, digging and exploration. You have a lot of freedom to make the base of your dreams and progression speed feels alright. Exploring the different caves is fun, putting little pieces of story together and finding new upgrades are worth it. The only real downside is the tiny inventory. It gets better later on with multiple upgrades, but it still makes the whole mineral hunting and backtracking to the base a little tedious. Achievements won't pop until the very end of the game, you even have three endings!
It's alright.
Very neat little game. The gameloop is a bit repetitive at the beginning but still fun if you like a bit of a grind and once you unlock the drones it's very engaging. I wish you could get some of the resources back when deconstructing something, I think I would have played around with decorating and building a nice base a lot more.
Stumbling across this game was a pleasant surprise. It offers a clever mix of navigating from a 2D top-down perspective and then seamlessly docking into nearby caves, which opens into beautifully designed underground environments. The transition between exploration and cave diving is well-executed, showing off some impressive level design that sets the atmosphere perfectly. The base construction system is enjoyable, giving players a solid structure for progression and management, while not feeling overly complicated. There is a small grind present, but it never becomes too tedious and serves to keep you invested in the upgrades and advancements. While the initial playthrough is super fun and engaging, the experience does lack some replayability. Once you've seen most of what the game has to offer, there isn't much to incentivize multiple runs. Still, the time spent playing is rewarding and memorable. Overall, if you enjoy exploration, a bit of base building, and discovering atmospheric caves, this title is definitely worth trying out.
It's fun to play through, and has a nice base construction system. Lacks a bit in replayability at the worst. This has my thumbs up.
