The premise of the game is simple: as the guild manager, you'll be tasked with victoriously completing X# of arenas within X# of days, all while growing your encampment, recruiting new guildmembers, and gearing them with various equipment. The strategic nuance in the game comes from selecting difficulties/challenges, positioning of gladiators during battles, and resource management with when/how players choose to upgrade their guild & gladiators (which is encouraged between each arena battle). Each battle within an arena will give you 3 fight options of differing difficulties (green, blue, purple), with rewards corresponding to each (that will allow you to upgrade your guild & its gladiators). This is basically a demo of the full version of the game. It's a time killer but i didn't find it particularly enjoyable. It gets repetitive even after just an hour or so. There are a lot of options and things to manage, but not much depth. I found i just used the same fighters over and over since they level up the more they fight and there is limit via in-game days, so you can't really experiment and play with different varieties unless you start over. Glad i got to try it for free though.

Gladiator Guild Manager: Prologue is a strategy game where I get to build and manage my own gladiator guild, then send my fighters into battles that play out automatically. I am not directly controlling every attack, so most of the fun comes from preparing my team properly before the fight starts. I can recruit different gladiators, train them, give them equipment and work out which combination makes the most sense for the next arena. I like that the game makes me think about the fight before it actually happens instead of turning it into another action game where I just control the character myself. The gladiators themselves give the strategy a decent amount of depth. Each one has different strengths, weaknesses, behaviours and abilities, so I cannot just throw together a random group and expect everything to work. I have warriors, beasts and mages to work with, and I can build my guild in a way that affects what becomes available to me. I also have to think about equipment and item combinations because I can use gear to improve a fighter's strengths or cover some of their weaknesses. Demo of the full game. Absolutely one of the best auto-battlers out there! Between choosing units, equipment, positioning, and which fights to take, there is a good strategic and tactical depth to be explored here. The art style and animations are good and fun. There's plenty of challenge to be had. Balance and length are both good. Highly recommend.
