Once you get the general pattern of all enemies and bosses in this game, the only real way to die is when you get impatient by the overall repetitiveness of each and every run. Realistically speaking, the majority of items and weapons (a lot of which being a direct downgrade to the base sword and gun) in this game don't do much and lifesteal and stamina regen as mechanics are the vastly dominant stats because they will patch up every odd mistake you may make like rolling too early. It is quite barren but surprisingly calming and enjoyable. On the visual side, it is quite pretty. Love the art direction Hunchback took with their debut. The story is also quite intriguing with it's various endings and the way you can piece it all together, though I do wish they took a more The Binding of Isaac approach to the items and the hints those could provide to the actual story of what happens outside of the dream. If you don't mind repetitive gameplay and seem to be charmed by the presentation and genre, feel free to pick the game up on sale like I did. Too bad the sequel will most likely never come out.

An outstanding mix of nail biting action roguelike and memorable cosmic horror which always pulls you back for just one more run.

Pretty quick and fun each run, EXCEPT THAT LAST BOSS I NEED TO KILL TO THE ACHIEVEMENT SCREW THEM (finally dead after all this time), but yea I like this game

** Played on Steam Deck Gloom is a cool and easy going roguelike that will cause you to die a lot but not rip your hair out at the same time. You catch on quick to how it works and then you’re off to the races. You can pick it up, do a run, get out. I had a blast with it and recommend it.

I liked the atmosphere and the music but the stamina ruins everything.
