About Glory's Fools

Long ago, in the dawn of man, before the world could be shaped as it is today, the path to becoming a legend was laid bare for all comers. Monsters freely roamed the land and the Gods gave blessings daily. Truly, it was a hero’s haven, if you knew where to go. Recently, there have been tales of a true monster god roaming the land, Medusa. She is said to have the ability to turn anyone foolish enough to challenge her to stone. Are you foolish enough to test this tale? Or will you let glory slip from your grasp?

When it comes to games, aren't most of us glory hunters? The thrill of slaying fearsome foes, the process of getting stronger, farming awesome loot, navigating intricate dungeons, immersing oneself in otherworldly stories - these are only the most important reasons why I enjoy playing JRPGs. Sadly, what I mentioned above is only the in-game hunt. The hunt that I deem more difficult nowadays is discovering decent (RPG Maker) JRPGs on Steam. Which makes me a fool, most definitely. I'm even more saddened when - obviously - some effort went into the development of a game, yet it still fails to satisfy me, despite my naturally low expectations. "Glory's Fools" is one of those games that makes you think at first: This could be a decent game. And granted, it isn't even a bad game per se, yet I still can't recommend it. I've played hundreds of RPG Maker JRPGs, but my least favorite RPG Maker engine is definitely RPG Maker XP (which, you probably already guessed, is the engine used to develop this game). So be prepar…

Hard recommend. An actual hidden gem among retro indie fans. You can tell a lot of love went into fleshing out the writing, which is where the game really shines. The gameplay is standard, straightforward retro fun, which serves as a fine enough vehicle for delivering the writing. Having lots of fun playing through this one and looking forward to seeing more from this dev. This is the kind of indie you love to see and can't help but support.
