Achilles: Legends Untold

Although the gameplay and story are OK, imho I would not recommend this game for players that are on Win 11 (25H2) with an I9 13900k, Nvidia 4090 and a SSDnvm. The reason why: I had frequent random ctd and mainly hard freezes mostly when entering or leaving specific areas (cellar, dungeons etc.). The hard freezes occurred with either a black screen or Unreal logo and made the system unresponsive. Even quitting the game via task manager has not worked at all requiring a hard system restart via Win key and restart button. There are a lot of hints on the net to make the game run smoothly, but all hints related to the same problem are different. Nonetheless, I tried some of the recommendend system and Nvidia (control panel) settings and the recommended steam launch option/command or Achilles.exe shortcut parameter (-dx11). These settings only have had slightly reduced the said ctd and freezes, but actually have not solved the problem at all. Anyway, meanwhile the game does not even load my last game save, but instantly crashes (ctd) when trying to load the last game save ( „Continue“ ). Great game.

Absolute jank. Typical Unreal engine slop micro stutters. Tons of BS level design where you get stuck on EVERYTHING in any sort of forest area. Invisible enemies attacking you, like total invisible, while youre stuck against some rocks and trees with no clear sign of how to get out. Boring slow combat. Ridiculously bad voice acting. Asian or something accents trying to sound Greek? Lol. Bad bad bad.

It's alright if you buy it on sale.

what an awful game. pure button smashing jank, even the menus, bags and skill tree are constantly bugged. glad i got it for $5, its not worth anymore then that, not worth finishing the game. its terrible in everyway.

I recommend this if you don't own any other games in your steam library. Slight stuttering on a 5090 with a 7800x3d and 32gb ddr5 6000. Character moves like he shipped his pants, feels like moving a fat guy around. I defeated an enemy and when doing so it gives me the option to "kill" the enemy or....don't choose that option and it....kills them anyway. What in the world is that all about? Pure nonsense, just like how you can waste 10 second to pet a dog which serves no purpose other than to lock you into an animation of you petting a dog. OK BRO.
