About Godstone

Godstone is a roguelike dungeoncrawler set in a dark fantasy world where rumors have emerged of a Godstone hidden deep beneath a ruined city. Distant nations wage war amongst themselves, for whoever claims it will be all powerful. You play as a deserter of war, seeking a new future guided by a strange companion. But your paths twist and end in unexpected turns and betrayal. Now the only path of survival is to find the Godstone and claim it before those who would use it to destroy your kind.

  • Intense combat:Test yourself in battle against souls-like bosses and a large variety of enemies that reward timing and strategy. As you play more runs, new enemies and bosses can spawn, keeping the game fresh!
  • Costumizable characters:Godstone lets you customize your own skilltrees and create some crazy builds and synergies along with an abundance of items, upgrades, shops and weapons! It can change how health and mana works, give you an infinite army of crows, turn spells into shotguns and so much more!
  • Exploration:Godstone is full of secrets, hidden doors and fake walls leading to new paths and treasures. Exploration is highly rewarded!
  • Deep lore and story:Experience a fleshed out world and complex story told from the perspective of each playable character! Dialog can change based on anything from your past actions to the items you are carrying.

The controller support was made by aliens, as in creatures from another planet. Attack is left bumper by default. Inventory is the X button (Square for PS controllers, which is the game's default button layout, despite the ubiquity of Xinput controllers on the market and in the PC gaming community). Jump is up on the left analog stick and A is interact. Incredible amount of jank. I noped out.

A Roguelite with a lot of potential. Beautiful pixel art and some pretty fun gameplay that almost reminds me a bit of Magicite if any of you remember that game. I would love to see more polishing overall as the game can feel a little bit janky at times with things like alt+tabbing not being possible sometimes, the exit game button not working intermittently and the game running at 30fps capped, but these are all things that can be fixed with time. I would definitely recommend to keep your eye on this game as the developer seems very passionate about it and has definitely built a really solid foundation to work upon here throughout the games early access period.

At the time of this review, the game is still in very early access, and even then, I am impressed. Knowing that the creator made this entirely on their own. I am normally ot big on rogue-like games, but this pleasantly surprised me. The music is lovely, the gameplay is fun, and despite dying a lot, I still felt like I got somewhere every time. There's clearly a lot of in-depth story and lore i am excited to explore. That said. you can still definitely tell that this is early access. You can still kind of tell some things are missing. But I don't doubt for a second that as the game gets updates, it'll feel more finished. Some people might complain about the price, but even at full price, that's like the price of one hours minimum-wage. So considering how much time's been spent to make this? More than fair, and you'll most definitely be playing for more than an hour.

Its not bad, but its nothing special either. A typical roguelike with nice, but pretty chunky pixel graphics. I don't think demo doesn't correctly represent what the game is about. If anything stands out, its creative secrets. Everything else, I feel its just mediocre and I've played roguelikes that feel far better. The biggest flaw, which is why I'm refunding - is that I finished it in 60 minutes until the Act 2 comes out. I did not expect it to be this short, especially not for this price tag. Sure you unlock couple of characters, but this just doesn't really feel like a game I'd happily return to more like one more in the sea of the likes. Sorry devs, nothing personal.
