About Going for Nuts
Do you like playing platform games and especially the old ones? A brand new and yet old game (in appearance) in 16-bit cartoon graphics. Experience a crazy adventure with an unusual hero. Suitable for everyone who wants to relax and have a good time. The individual levels are just the right length, and the difficulty is also set appropriately to make the game fun, but still not entirely easy. It all just depends on your skill. Beautiful pixel graphics like the good old games, but not insanely and deliberately difficult to play. Reminisce about the good old games with something new yet familiar.A short summary:
- 18 hand crafted levels
- Lots of weird enemies
- Endgame boss fight (level 19th)
- You can replay already completed levels and beat your previous score
- Each level with a different musical theme to set the right mood
- 16-bit graphics
- Cartoon violence (no blood)
- Controls with keyboard or gamepad (Xbox or compatible) only for player movement and mouse in game/pause menu
- And of course lots of fun :-)

I've just picked up this game but just off the starting level, from atmospheric design to monsters you can tell the game was made with a lot of love. Definitely scratches that retro itch of the games of old . Really if you like retro platformers at all(The Fantastic Adventures of Dizzy, Adventure Island, Mario, Sonic, Kirby and you can) then you should try going for nuts with this squirrel. Game description says controller, mouse, and keyboard work, but they don't. You cannot use the controller buttons to even restart the game if you die. You have to get up, walk to back to the pc, and click the button at your desk. The controller also supports only d-pad, the developer didn't even both to map the joysticks to movement. That's like 10 minutes work in any game engine. Lazy.4 found this helpful

On my quest to play good squirrel games I found this one. Made me have very mixed feelings. Good nuts: - Great pixel graphics - Good music - Colorful levels full of enemies and details - Funny dialogues and level descriptions - Price is lower than actual 16-bit games Not very good nuts: - Squirrel sprites are just free assets, everything else is probably the same - Can't control jump height - Levels are too tight and flooded with enemies and bullets, too hard to evade all of this - "Extra life" gives you 1 lame health point - Game is pretty short, the ending is a one-screen joke (where are my "mountains of nuts"?!) The game is obviously made from other people's assets and a few AI covers. Well, at least it looks vibrant and lively thanks to all these assets, so for its price it may worth a laugh or two.1 found this helpful
