About Gone Fireflies

James Reed is a detective called out one night to investigate the apparent suicide of a woman and the sudden disappearance of her husband, Thomas May. Play as both of these men in this short story-driven experience as you learn about how they lived, how they loved, how they lost, and how the decisions they made changed not only their lives, but of those around them.

Quiet Bay Studio's debut title, Gone Fireflies, is a brief, linear experience that lets you turn the story one page at a time by talking with the game's characters, finding and interacting with objects in the environment, and making choices in both action and conversation which determine the final pages of this interactive tale. This is a slower paced game that emphasizes dialogue and story over traditional RPG elements and adventure.

Key Features

  • An emotional story-driven experience
  • Multiple dialogue options during conversations
  • Investigate, and discover optional content
  • Multiple endings based on the choices you make
  • Beautiful music by Jeremy Wray, Nicolas Gasparini, and Kevin MacLeod

Its a short story-driven rpg maker game with nice map design, good soundtrack and a pretty well written touching/sad story. There is actually not much more then the story, no riddles etc but i liked it finally, after the beginning was maybe a bit slow paced at times for me. Depending on your choices the story/ending will change slightly. Also very easy 100% achievements.

This short game packs a heavy yet beautiful story. I only played through it once, so I am not sure if other endings would have a better outcome. I enjoyed it though! I absolutely loved the music too. The end screen track 'What Could Have Been' is absolutely beautiful and it will stick with me for a long time.

Beautiful, yet cruel. Gone Fireflies is a mix between RPG and Visual Novel. With amazing soundtracks and incredible storytelling, this game will surely make you cry internally. I didn't know what I was getting into at first, starting phase of the game seemed like normal RPG game with no extra steps involved. I got this game 7 years ago from a giveaway and I wish I had played it back then. Game description sums up everything perfectly: "A short story-driven experience about love, loss, and the choices we make." Underrated hidden gem for sure. Developer deserves recognition for his writing skills, I wish he continued to make/write more games. Thank you developer for this adventure and the person who gave me this game 7 years ago.

I loved the take the developers had on such hard hitting topics. Also loved the overall story in general. Not really much game-play to speak of but I'm always a sucker for a game with a good story to tell!
