Good Bones

Quite heavy, but pretty good. Interesting and engaging, and only sometimes annoying. Managed to complete without hints, but it involved just clicking everything I see for a while, in a couple spots.

The game was fun but could be quite heavy for some people. Dang that ending though, jeez! lol

Good Bones is a solid short story experience where your choices genuinely matter, and I appreciated that the branching feels meaningful. Definitely click on everything you can—there were multiple moments where I found myself digging through discussion forums for answers because some of the logic can get a little tricky. That said, I kept feeling like the game left a lot of potential on the table. It’s super weird that the story doesn’t expand on elements that seem obviously ripe for development: opening the dining room, exploring more of the house as they move in, cleaning out what was left behind, going to the police, or even building a new life where B gets new friends. There’s also no real follow‑up on the husband or any potential contact beyond the found phone, which makes the world feel smaller than it could be. It’s good—engaging, atmospheric, and choice‑driven—but it could have been so much more in‑depth. There’s space for richer storytelling that never quite gets used.

I really wanted to like the game because of the representation but it really started to lose me at the end. I was excited to the Brujeria then lost the excitement by the negative turn of it. Followed by having a "you didnt teach your daughter spanish??" dialog as someone that experienced a lot of negativity in my life because my grandparents chose assimilation over culture it wasn't a great reminder especially when Brujeria was already being turned into the bad guy. Just wasn't for me. I was first excited seeing "mija" used in a game for the first time ever for me and it brought warmth of how my family is but the warmth turned by the end. It's a game that I wouldn't recommend but it isnt inherently bad.

Love getting to explore and slowly uncover a story.

Really nice visual novel that has some options and small puzzles to do. Also your options matter. Deals with grief and domestic abuse, but they have a really good trigger warning at the start, which is great to see. Love the art style. The vocal noises aren't full voice acted, but it gives it a little extra interest and depth to the characters. Kind of wanted to know or see more about certain things or a consequence for one thing. (hard to say without spoiling). But in the end and overall really satisfied with how the story went.
