About Murder Is Game Over: The Blackinton Curse

Following the death of a family matriarch, the surviving heirs return from abroad to their childhood home in The Berkshires. But in addition to the family’s Victorian mansion, sprawling acreage, and millions of dollars, they’ve also inherited something much more sinister. A spooky masked figure appears and warns the siblings that they will be the next victims of a grizzly family curse dating back to the Gilded Age. After another fatality on the property, the prophecy is seemingly proven true. Can you help Cleo and Detective Guy crack the mystery of multiple murders and a 150-year-old legend?

The best game in the series so far. I still wish the developers would give the option to use WASD instead of arrow keys (changing characters could be C for change instead of S for switch) or even better, keymapping. Also, the map continues to be nearly unreadable with tiny neon text on a black background. And there's sooo much empty space to wander around in search of doggy bags. Nevertheless, I enjoy interviewing all the characters and solving the mystery at the end, and for only $5 I think it's a worthwhile way to spend a few hours. This game for me is a notch better than its predecessors because the mystery itself is better
- rather than the mystery being solved due to a single clue that points to one person, it requires actually thinking over ALL the facts of the case and the whole timeline
.

Having played all the other games in the series I thought this one was also pretty good. A whodunnit mystery with 8 suspects, going around talking to eveyone and exploring for clues. The whole series feels a bit like scooby doo episodes. Takes about 2 hours to complete which seems fine for the price. I look forward to their next game.

The Blackinton Curse is the fourth game in the "Murder is Game Over" series, and it builds nicely on what came before it. This is probably the most interesting actual mystery in the series; previous games have tended to be very obvious, but this one's a bit more intricate and tricksy. The gameplay hasn't changed from the previous entries, however: Guy and Cleo roam around the area interrogating suspects and searching for clues, and the game proceeds automatically once enough information has been gathered. Unlike previous games, though, there's very little gatekeeping this time; once you're past the introduction, you can explore almost the entire map at any time, and investigate and interrogate in any order you see fit. The "ghost chase" mechanic returns from Streaming Death, and I don't enjoy it any more this time than I did before. On the bright side, it adds a third difficulty level -- "cozy" -- which, trendy internet name aside, is a lovely addition, as it disables the mechanic entirely, and returns the game to being pure investigation. In terms of graphics and sound, the game is exactly on par with its predecessors. Everything is perfectly serviceable, but not exciting. The …

This game is so cool! I haven't played any of the other games in this series yet but now that I've played this one I can't wait to get the rest. It's an 8-bit Scooby Doo meets Nancy Drew and I'm so here for it. The plot is really intriguing and has kept me interested the whole time (no spoilers but family curses and all that) and the music in this is SO good. Can't wait to play more!! I hope the series continues as well, we always need more good quality mystery games that aren't just hidden object.

Enjoyed the mystery - keep a paper and pen nearby to keep track of suspects, alibis and clues. I'd recommend playing in one sitting (if you have the time). There are so many twists and turns, it may be hard to keep track of who said what without interviewing everyone again.

The Blackinton Curse is another fantastic game in the fabulous murder is game over series. If you like mystery, detective, or adventure games give this one (or the full series) a shot. As i mentioned in my other review, my favorite thing about the series is the ability to piece together and solve the mystery prior to the actual reveal. Give the Murder is Game Over series a go, you would not be disappointed.
