The Blackwell Legacy

[i]The Blackwell Legacy[/i] is a point'n click adventure set in the normal world. The main character, Rosa, is a medium. In this first episode, you'll learn about her family's past and how she came into contact with her spirit guide, Joey Mallone. You play as both Rosa and Joey, gathering clues by questioning people and investigating objects. Clues are recorded in a notepad and often have to be combined to unlock new details and dialogue options. The solutions are mostly realistic, or at least believable, instead of the comedic nonsense you often see in these types of games. The overall tone of this series is somber with dry and witty humor. This first episode is a short but enjoyable introduction to the [i]Blackwell[/i] series.

the art style is so nostalgic, it was sooo fun to play i just wish it was longer and more in depth but it still is an amazing game i LOOVEE it sm im genuinely so happy i got thiss

The gameplay is fine I guess, but the game lacks sign posts, and it also lacks a way to turn the absolutely asinine music off. The mixing is so bad, that sometimes the dialogue is just drowned out by music, or you have to turn the volume down to avoid the music that's mixed SUPER LOUD, but the voices are mixed super quiet in comparison.

It's a couple hours of gameplay for $5, maybe stick to getting it on sale.

I've always loved point & click adventures, and this one is pretty great... VERY short... about 2 hours of gameplay in total. The story is good and intriguing; the writing could be a bit stronger. There are points where a conversation seems to flip very quickly or be over very abruptly... like trying to convince someone they go from "Absolutely not!" to "Okay Sure!" after just one sentence... people just change their minds at the drop of a hat... even in the ending... which could have benefitted from more verbal sparing rather than "You said no... so I'll do this one simple action and now you've completely changed your mind" it made the ending feel somewhat cheap... but don't get me wrong, the premise is good and overall its a good game... some of the voice acting is a bit ropey... one character you can hear rusting in the mic when it was recorded... The biggest problem I had though... was the music... The actual music itself wasn't bad... but it was VERY loud in some placed and drowned out the dialogue... and there is no way to turn it off, or even turn it down for that matter. I hope this issue is fixed in the later games.

This is a masterpiece. I'm in love with classic graphic adventures, but I know when I'm playing a good one and a bad one. This one is amazing. First of all, intuitive and achievable puzzles. Good, interesting story and amazing characters. The voice acting is really good. I wish the audio quality was better, but this is not spoiling the experience. The scenario is beautiful. I know it's pixel art, but it is gorgeous and cohesive. And last but not least, can we talk about the dev's love for his own work??? His enthusiasm in the commentary mode is just lovely. You can see he had the time of his life developing this amazing jewel, learning how to improve things and sharing his baby with every other artist working on this. If only there were more than 5 games... I need like 100 right now.
