The sun is shining, the birds are singing, there’s a spring in everybody’s step. It’s a perfect day until Ella receives a new pair of sunglasses that bring dark clouds and rain wherever she goes. Follow along as Ella does her best to dodge the rain in this charming story set in a lively London square. In this VR version of Rain or Shine, discover a neighborhood full of other characters that make up Ella’s world, just waiting for you to "find" them.

Google Spotlight Stories: Rain or Shine is an incredibly heartwarming, colorful, and delightfully simple interactive VR short film that instantly boosts your mood. The story follows a young girl named Ella who is desperate to try on her new sunglasses in a sun-drenched London, only to summon a personal raincloud over her head every single time. It completely wins you over with its childlike charm and gorgeous, Disney-level animation.For a free project, it offers a stunning level of 360-degree environment detail. Instead of a passive viewing experience, it brilliantly uses gaze-based interaction. The moment you look away or peer down a London alleyway, the narrative seamlessly adapts, triggering funny subplots and micro-scenes with the local residents. The only minor downside is the unskippable vignette effect during camera movement, meant to prevent motion sickness, which might slightly bother VR veterans. Other than that, it is a wonderful, wholesome, and completely free 5-minute showcase of interactive storytelling that every headset owner should experience. Highly recommended!2 found this helpful

A charming, whimsical VR short story. The art style is delightful and the core mechanic of dodging rainclouds is uniquely joyful. A perfect little escape.
Cute story. But way too short, even for a short film.
