About Grove of the Felled Olives

Grove of the Felled Olives is a virtual memorial dedicated to the humans killed in Gaza between Oct '23 and July '25. This is the desktop version of the memorial.
It is presented here as an offline experience for greater accessibility and fidelity. No such physical memorial recognizing each individual exists as of yet. Pay respects to each of the over 60,000 departed in a peaceful refuge for their memory. Come back at any point to pick up where you left off - every session in the grove begins at a new location. The grove includes a single memorial for the countless lives that remain unaccounted for.
I made this memorial to humanize the statistics and provide an accessible experience for people across the world to honor those lost. I hope this can be a respectful place for loved ones and strangers alike to reflect on our shared humanity. May we learn one day to be better.-Nick Oueijan

The experience is simple yet powerful

  • Walk through a peaceful virtual memorial
  • Approach each of over 60,000 monuments to acknowledge the identity of the real people who they commemorate
  • Move at your own pace
  • Contemplate life, humanity, family, love, responsibility, scale, loss....
  • With atmospheric original music by Test Collage

Data last updated on July 31st, 2025
Due to the limitations of ensuring the in-browser version of the memorial continues to smoothly on most mobile devices, this offline desktop version contains more up to date data.

Sad but necessary. I wish things did not have to be this way in the world.

One devastating thing you will notice about this game is that its icon is designed in such a way that makes it so the "o" in "olives" is covered by the shortcut arrow. When looking at it newly downloaded onto your desktop, it will read as the "grove of felled lives." This choice also has a double meaning due to the retraction of the word "olives," referring to the tree and symbol of peace. (In the bible, a dove flew to Noah's arc carrying an olive branch, signifying that the great flood was over.) With the removal of the olive trees, hence: felled, peace was also been removed. I should also note that I'm fairly certain the environment of the game isn't just a random unity sandbox. Rather, it's quite literally a grove of decimated olive trees, entrapped in gray fog that feels eerily similar to the concrete dust clouds that erupt from bombed buildings. Hats off to the dev. I really couldn't have come up with something so potent myself. Thank you for this game.

I wish I could live in a world where this memorial wouldn't need to exist.

12min in and I'm 0.415282% done - only 59950 to go! Games saves progress, but unfortunately I guess that the count is not over yet. Good way of visualizing the magnitude of what is going on and to pay hommage. Not sure why the tunnel vision was necessary (maybe for optimizations purpose?). Playing this game, yYou will not feel a sense of achievement, but you will feel something.

This game gives a space to think of those who should never have been killed in a genocide by Israel who is clearly under the influence of Satan along with those that side with Israel.
