The Elysian Field

The Elysian Field is a short asset flipped 3D third person walking simulator slapped together with Unity and a bunch of Synty assets. While the writing for the walking sim is slightly better than most asset flip garbage, it's hard to recommend such a simple game where apparently very little work was done by the "developer" and almost all of it grabbed from asset stores. It's short and not all that interesting as you plod around a Synty asset field with a Synty low poly character getting short bits of text. I've written game reviews that had more writing than this "game" does. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the 1990s. It's unclear why the developers weren't able to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets for the game, and also irrelevant... what matters is that this looks bad as a result of their decisions, a compromise PC gamers shouldn't have to put up with. This game exemplifies the beauty that can be achieved within a brief experience. I am truly enamored with it. It is a concise walking simulator that guides players through the final moments of a soldier's life and the subsequent events. The visuals are stunning and provide a calming atmosphere. There are several thought-provoking segments, primarily composed of text. I strongly encourage everyone to approach this game with an open mind and heart; it is a brief yet impactful experience that prompts reflection on the significance of life in the present moment. I can only hope that all indie developers can convey the same passion and creativity that this developer has demonstrated in this remarkable short adventure.

As others have said this is an ultra short asset flip, nothing more. Don't waste your time.
