Warning: Broken Game! This game has design/implementation defects that will render this unplayable for many gamers. The developers pulled the plug on the back end servers making the game local player only. It cannot be played as originally intended. Furthermore, the game does not work on high resolution display and crashes immediately. The game cannot be played on modern gaming systems.
Gunlok is an ancient game from 2000. It's a whopping 24 years old at the time of this review. The game lacks support for any modern gaming display resolutions (or widescreen monitors), hasn't been modernised or updated to run smoothly on modern gaming PCs. Despite this lack of modernisation, it carries a pretty high price tag for such an ancient game. This seems to have been put on Steam as a nostalgia gouge, or just a cash grab to try profit from abandonware. Gunlock was a hybrid top down combat game and adventure/RPG of medium quality... the kind of thing that went straight into the bargain bins at the front of the store to be walked straight by. Remember in the same year as this we got Deus Ex, Diablo 2 and X-Com: Apocalypse. This wasn't even a blip in comparison…

Good game, heavy strategic gameplay, based on different maps, but REALLY time consuming. Such a hard game, I think most people is going to give up for this as soon as they reach mission 7 Docks.

It is horrendous to play. You get it by taking one of those 3D action games and removing everything fun from them. Oh you like enjoying games? FU - limited bullets and forced stealth while the game explains nothing about what you are supposed to do. Oh you want more bullets? "Junkpile empty." JUNK PILE EMPTY. JUNKPILE EMPTY!! Oh you need to destroy an objective? Take a wild guess and waste your bullets on any of the map objects that are no different from the objective ones. Oh you want to actually do something? "Target obscured. TARGET OBSCURED. TARGET OBSCURED!! The path finding is godawful. The game clearly tries to force you to trial-and-error things because the design is extremely cryptic and unclear. It tries to be cute by giving you weird tools instead of guns or ammo and turns into an annoying puzzle game about what exactly you are supposed to do. Of course the game fails to support windowed mode out of the box. You get to re-size all of your windows every time because the only thing this game knows is exclusive fullscreen, implemented so that it is a fullscreen with that ugly black box around it. It is not fun to play in the slightest. Even the tutorials are ultra te…
