The classic slot machine plus the pinball game, there are no highlights, but I still hope the author will come on. ................

HAILSTORM is such a weird little arcade game that I honestly had a lot of fun figuring out what it was trying to do. At first it looks like a simple brick breaking game, but then the gambling mechanic starts getting involved and suddenly I am making decisions about when to take my chances. I liked that combination because it turns a very familiar arcade idea into something much more unpredictable. The main gameplay is built around controlling the paddle and breaking bricks with the ball. Every brick I destroy helps build a meter, and once that meter is ready I can pull the lever and activate the slot machine. I enjoyed the contrast between the parts where I am actually controlling the ball and the parts where I have to sit back and see what the machine gives me. It creates a nice rhythm between skill and luck. The ball and paddle mechanics are simple, but I still found myself getting surprisingly focused on them. Keeping the ball alive while trying to break through the remaining bricks feels satisfying, especially when I manage to clear difficult sections without losing control. There is also a nice feeling of building toward the next lever pull because I always have another risk…
