Hamayumishi is a twin-stick shooter where you go through levels hunting yokai with your bow. The art is weird (complimentary) which fits the designs of the yokai really well. It's really fun to play! It's fairly difficult but the spawn points are quite forgiving. Thank you for that. Works well on Steam Deck!

Nice platformer with a bit of puzzle mechanics about trick shots. Not too hard, but can get hectic from time to time! The real gem is the care taken creating the enemies. The sprites and animations are super cute, and the information in the Yokai museum is nice! (You can visit the museum by going left between stages) (Note, if you're playing Linux + Keyboard, make sure to set proton version to 10)

I really don't have reflexes for this game. But it's enjoyable nonetheless c:

Really tight movement, satisfying fights and a very unique art style. Well worth the price of admission! I was worried from the trailer that the game would require a lot of skill to enjoy, but because the controls are so tight I was able to do some good attacks, just kinda feels cool to play??

I like Hamayumishi a lot! It is kind of hard to get the hang of at first (and there are additional challenge stages as you get further in), but it's a lot of fun and does a good job feeling fun even when it's kicking your butt, haha. I'd appreciate more granular/obvious difficulty toggles but since the game doesn't really penalize you for losing and trying again, it really helps motivate me to keep going until I beat the bosses. I also like that I can throw myself at the challenge stages as much as I want and even if I don't do very well at them, it still helps earn currency to buy more upgrades with. Outside of the gameplay, it's very cool to learn more about the different yōkai through the museum you can access between stages and I love how unique the art style is, it stands out against all the same-y graphics out there. The English translation is really sound as well and it feels like it keeps a lot of the humor and puns relating to the background of the different yōkai too. I also love that there is NO genAI WHATSOEVER in this game, so refreshing! You can tell that every part of this game was made with love and care for the subject. Definitely worth giving it a try, Hamayumi…
