Lucky me gets to write the first review for more shovelware from SoftWaves/MegaSoft Games (why are they trying to hide who they are?) Harbour Tycoon is a very basic text based browser style game from the asset flippers at SoftWaves. They published this as "MegaSoft Games", but the smell of an asset flipper is so bad it leaves a tangible trail. Also, the UI is the same low quality one that SoftWaves have used on their other low effort shovelware. Shady developers aside, this is just a really sloppy browser tier business tycoon game, but without any interesting UI, you just click through HTML tier pages to pretend you're running an harbour/freight business. I've seen more interesting Excel spreadsheets. The screenshots show just how lazy the art assets are here. There's a cash grab price of $5 USD for this garbage. Give it a miss.18 found this helpful
Bought it on sale (like 50% off 5 bucks) and it still really wasn't worth the price. Another review commented that they'd seen more exciting spreadsheets; I'd agree, I've personally had more fun manipulating spreadsheets than playing this game.5 found this helpful
This game is pretty much shovelware. You could easily get the impression this is an indie developer, however they are the same exact studio as Softwaves, who have made at least two games that are the exact same UI and dynamics, but equally as dreadful according to the reviews. The UI is terrible, the tutorial not very helpful, takes ages to move between turns, the English is sometimes like it was written by a child with some bits in what appears to be French. Various game concepts are not explained, for example what "implements" are (pallets and dunnage maybe?) or about simple things such the relevancy of the tonnage and power. It's a shame really, the game has a lot of potential. It seems like a browser-style game, which is what it would be much better suited as! This has been on my wish list for a few years for some reason so bought it in the sale for a quid. The reviews were bad but thought I would give it a go. I should have listened to them as this was a complete waste of money! MegaSoft Games appears to be the same studio as Softwaves, Softwaves Mini, HandMade Games and GamesBraz, all of which produce similar shovelware and asset flipping games, many with the exact sa…1 found this helpful
Objectively, this game is a mess. It looks like a cheap spreadsheet and the loading times are painful. But honestly, I actually had fun. The loop is simple and addictive. Good for killing time, just lower your expectations.
