Heads Will Roll: Downfall is a combination of a tactical role-playing game and visual novel, in which you will assume the role of a medieval soldier. One of the thousands of faceless foot soldiers the English king sent to put down a rebellion in Scotland.
As an accidental participant in this war, the protagonist and the player will have to confront a variety of dangerous situations, meet good friends and deadly opponents, as well as make many difficult decisions along the way.
The combat system in Downfall is a reworked and improved version of Heads Will Roll. Turn-based tactical battles will challenge the player to carefully consider each action he takes. Physical attributes, weapon skills, fatigue, wounds, injuries, armor coverage, weapon type and length - each of these factors contributes to the outcome of any battle to one degree or another, giving any battle a greater tactical depth.
The story revolves around a young soldier who gets into war in an attempt to hide from justice for a crime that he did not commit. He has a deadly adventure in store for him and a chance to wash away the dirt off his reputation with blood so as to return home no longer a fugitive but a hero... Or remain missing on endless battlefields.
Who said there is no romance in war? You will have to choose between feelings and duty more than once while fighting not only for gold and but also for a beautiful girl who is determined to win your heart.
The loot found on the battlefield can be used to craft new items, such as poisons, medicines, pieces of equipment, and different kinds of crossbow bolts.
Dozens of authentic medieval weapons including swords, spears, axes, throwing daggers, and crossbows. All of them have distinct characteristics, attacks, and principles of work, based on certain characteristics of each character. There are strengths and weaknesses to each weapon that needs to be considered in order to win the battle.
Every action the player takes will affect his reputation with his brothers-in-arms and key characters. Get the respect of your comrades and they will help you more than once. Make a mess of your relationship with them and you'll be alone in the middle of an army.

"Heads Will Roll: Downfall" is is not a game. It's an advertisement for a product called ""Heads Will Roll: Reforged"". "Heads Will Roll: Reforged" is more basic Russian shovelware, this time a browser/Flash tier RPG with a HUGE number of fake/paid reviews from the Russian review farm uncovered by Sentinels of the Store. Which means, of course, that Valve will eventually ban the game (and this advert for it) when they finally get around to enforcing their policy on review manipulation. But this isn't completely relevant because this is not "Heads Will Roll: Reforged", it's just an advertisment for it, so it's not correct to try to review that completely distinct product. We must instead review this for what it is... an advertisement. If you enjoy advertisements, you can consume them for free on the web or on Youtube without needing to add them to your game library, download them, and then launch the advertising. It's impossible in a general sense to recommend people should do that over playing real, full games on Steam, and that applies here with "Heads Will Roll: Downfall" too. From a historical accuracy point of view this game stands next to Braveheart, which is famous for portraying Scots in garments that were off by few centuries and depicting a Battle of Stirling Bridge without a bridge. When it comes to gameplay it nowhere better - stats and modifiers are badly explained (i.e. you could expect that when one armour has penalty equal "2" and another has penalty equal "-1" you would have "1" penalty in total but you get "3"); you have to learn game mechanics by trial and error (which is especially annoying when it comes to fighting), and to keep notes about many things outside of the game (i.e. recipes, as switching between buying and crafting wastes time and re-rolls the store each time). The story itself could be interesting and some mechanics (i.e. virtue) are really interesting but the overall experience with this game you can sum up as a waste of time.
this game is so ass like damn it takes to long and for some reason my guy is always to tiered to train and the trader never has any swords so i cant fight to do quest i have no money to buy stuff or to gamble

I get literally(!) locked out of even leaving the camp, because I supposedly trained the wrong stats. Don't wanna know where this will lead.
Can't say I liked it. This is a very interactive visual novel game, and I can see the depth this offers, but this just isn't my type of game. Thank you for offering this free version, before I buy in the original game blindly. I'll keep this one installed and the original game on my wishlist for now, though. I will give it another chance later on, when I am in the right mood.
