Heads Will Roll: Downfall

From a historical accuracy point of view this game stands next to Braveheart, which is famous for portraying Scots in garments that were off by few centuries and depicting a Battle of Stirling Bridge without a bridge. When it comes to gameplay it nowhere better - stats and modifiers are badly explained (i.e. you could expect that when one armour has penalty equal "2" and another has penalty equal "-1" you would have "1" penalty in total but you get "3"); you have to learn game mechanics by trial and error (which is especially annoying when it comes to fighting), and to keep notes about many things outside of the game (i.e. recipes, as switching between buying and crafting wastes time and re-rolls the store each time). The story itself could be interesting and some mechanics (i.e. virtue) are really interesting but the overall experience with this game you can sum up as a waste of time.

"Heads Will Roll: Downfall" is is not a game. It's an advertisement for a product called ""Heads Will Roll: Reforged"". "Heads Will Roll: Reforged" is more basic Russian shovelware, this time a browser/Flash tier RPG with a HUGE number of fake/paid reviews from the Russian review farm uncovered by Sentinels of the Store. Which means, of course, that Valve will eventually ban the game (and this advert for it) when they finally get around to enforcing their policy on review manipulation. But this isn't completely relevant because this is not "Heads Will Roll: Reforged", it's just an advertisment for it, so it's not correct to try to review that completely distinct product. We must instead review this for what it is... an advertisement. If you enjoy advertisements, you can consume them for free on the web or on Youtube without needing to add them to your game library, download them, and then launch the advertising. It's impossible in a general sense to recommend people should do that over playing real, full games on Steam, and that applies here with "Heads Will Roll: Downfall" too. this game is so ass like damn it takes to long and for some reason my guy is always to tiered to train and the trader never has any swords so i cant fight to do quest i have no money to buy stuff or to gamble

I get literally(!) locked out of even leaving the camp, because I supposedly trained the wrong stats. Don't wanna know where this will lead.

Can't say I liked it. This is a very interactive visual novel game, and I can see the depth this offers, but this just isn't my type of game. Thank you for offering this free version, before I buy in the original game blindly. I'll keep this one installed and the original game on my wishlist for now, though. I will give it another chance later on, when I am in the right mood.
