About Legends of Eisenwald
Lead a feudal army through a gritty medieval world where your moral choices shape the story and determine your fate in tactical turn-based combat. This grounded historical adventure strips away fantasy tropes to explore human nature, superstition, and survival across 50+ hours of branching campaigns with deep unit customization and the constant threat of catastrophic loss.
The mysterious lands of old Germany are waiting for you - it's a land where the superstitions of the time have come to life. This isn’t a fantasy game. There are no elves or dragons here. There are only people - and their passions, sins and fears that often take a tangible form. Which path will you choose? Live according to your conscience? Or live by power and might? Or will you live by justice? And what is your justice, really?

This looks and plays like a mobile game. I personally couldn't recommend it.8 found this helpful
Legends of Eisenwald is a surprisingly consequential rpg, with pause and kinda real time global map and turn based combat. So gameplay is as mentioned in two parts - time on global map going in real time for everyone, so other npcs and units on map are moving along with you - patrolling, going through their trade route and so on. Besides roaming troops that you can interact with straight to combat or conversations depending on their affinity to you there are lots of locations - villages, mills, towns, castles, ruins, churches and so on. They all have their use in quests, trading, rumors collecting, hiring etc. also far from all of them are revealed on map, some are hidden and could only be found when you bump into them, same with some roads, especially in forests. Consequences are regarding so many hidden quests and events that could happen in game - some rumor you hear in one mission might end up in quest or event in 5 missions after that. Oh right, missions are main quests you get for a particular map you’re in, after you finish that objective and leave you go to next map. That’s why in my first playthrough i missed a lot of side content and had to check guides to get those enc…2 found this helpful
Even at the release date I would say that the game is quite archaic and very clunky. Story is quite good, but gameplay on the other hand is boring after just a while.
I love writing and narrative, but the UI is way too archaic and clunky, and the gameplay isn't engaging enough, so there is quite a bit a friction. Good games bring you in the state of flow, even when they are challenging. This game, however, constantly requires making an effort to have fun.
Not a bad little game when on sale. Somewhat dated. Plus, story and tactical interface. Minus, you don't keep your retainers between storyboards and the economics can be a bit challenging while stuck in a linear storyline.
Legends of Eisenwald, developed and published by Aterdux Entertainment, is a tactical role-playing game that carves out its own identity by stepping away from the high-fantasy excesses that dominate the genre. Instead of dragons, elaborate magic systems, and world-ending stakes, it presents a grounded, medieval-inspired setting shaped by politics, faith, and personal ambition. This deliberate restraint defines the entire experience, giving it a tone that feels more like historical fiction with subtle supernatural undertones than a traditional fantasy adventure. The story follows a young noble returning to his homeland, only to find it in disarray. His family’s position is uncertain, the surrounding territories are unstable, and the path forward is anything but clear. Rather than guiding players through a tightly scripted narrative, the game allows the story to unfold through exploration, dialogue, and player-driven decisions. Quests are scattered across large maps, and the player is often left to determine how to approach them, which factions to support, and what kind of character to become. This open-ended structure creates a strong sense of agency, though it can also lead to mom…
