About Heartless Dark
Heartless Dark is a top-down action-roguelike with survival horror elements. It plays like a familiar top-down-shooter but your flashlight is your only view into the darkness - oh and your 6th sense... Resources are scarce and even the furniture could be trying to kill you.

Note from Roarke (the developer):
Heartless Dark was designed as a 'coffee-break roguelike' - easy to pick up and put down and not hugely demanding of your time. A run could be completed in around 20 minutes if you're good enough. While it may not contain thousands of item combinations, hundreds of enemies and complex meta-progression like other games in the genre, I've still put my passion into creating a unique, atmospheric and replay-able experience.
Action-Roguelike: Shoot, dodge, stun, electrocute, throw bombs and other tools as you kill monsters in abandoned corporate offices. Expect procedural levels, stats, upgrades, synergies, multiple characters and perma-death.

Oppressive Darkness: Your flashlight is your only view into the darkness all around you. Oh and your 6th sense...

Survival Horror: Your survival relies on spatial awareness, managing your limited resources and learning to use hazards to your advantage.

It is a solid and interesting concept, but it is flawed. With procedual levels, some are fine, others are wonky and will have objects stuck in the geometry and just be a plain annoyance at times. Enemies will get stuck on the geometry and is quite dumb in general. Poltergeists are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ silly simply walking into the thrown item deals damage and can kill you, even if it's just lying still. The damage effect is a bit too extreme and will get you killed more time than you can imagine Not to mention that it chrases a lot.2 found this helpful
Excelling atmospheric game play that is challenging yet rewarding once you get the hang of it. Great game design and physics bundled with superb sound effects, created an extremely entertaining game.2 found this helpful
I enjoyed the many hidden gems within this game. I liked the ability to choose which upgrade I wanted. I also enjoyed the fact the resources are limited and you have to be strategic in how you play. You cant just find the elevator and run past the monsters. You have to fight, collect and find your way through the maze like map. Overall a great game and I look forward to spending more time leveling up and fighting the boss.1 found this helpful

yeah not a great product despite the fact its going for a solid idea. pros - flashlight limited sight for tension - sixth sense letting you plan ahead - decent layout of a roguelike genre cons - terrible ai, some ai are braindead and will attempt to try walking through walls, which lets you kill them there and then because you can melee things through walls, one particular enemy if you stand behind them will never turn around because they aren't start enough to do that and try to keep attacking the nothnig in front of them - prone to crashes several times during loading screens in runs. very cool no comment - accuracy is god awful, standing still or moving and regardless if you take an upgrade it's going to be stupid due to the fact as a roguelike ammo is scarce and you need to save it accordingly - you need to purposely kill things to move ahead to next levels for 90% of your floors. the only terrible design for this game ive seen so far, especially when there are particular enemies that need bullets to be killed sometimes for meeting your quota to get to the next floor so just get softlocked if bad rng and the terrible accuracy system ♥♥♥♥♥ you over
Fun little game, really hard
