Hell Blasters

The sprites and music are what you see and hear in the trailer. Not very good imo but still passable perhaps. However, the stage design is very plain. Certain enemy types get reused extremely often throughout all stages and their bullet patterns are rather generic. There's no proper flow throughout most of the stages. Instead, most stage gameplay consists of waves of enemies that appear in specified intervals. However, the intervals are often so great that destroying all enemies of one wave immediately may result in a lot of downtime until the next wave appears, rather than spawning additional enemies. I understand that that's most likely designed around forcing you to keep certain waves alive longer so the chain doesn't break but I'm sure that could've been solved much better. Ultimately, I did not enjoy trying to memorize this game as most of it isn't very memorable. The characters are not well balanced. Winter (the woman) is rather underpowered while Summer (the man) is very overpowered. The leaderboard does not seem to have a filter for characters. On the positive side, the game has a practice mode, a story mode with tutorials and an instant restart feature.

Hell Blasters is a more of a classic shmup borders bullet hells to match its gimmick of managing the players bullet canceling shots and bombs. Which may be polarizing for an otherwise mediocre shooter. Hell Blasters is a vertical scrolling shoot 'em up that offers the player a wider 'Rapid' shot as well as a slower moving, narrower focused 'Shot' for its basic attacks. A nitpick of mine would have called 'Shot' Focus instead, as I am too conditioned from Psikyo Games to think of Shot as anything but tap to fire or hold down for charged shot. In addition to these attacks, the player has limited resource bullet canceling large damage bomb attacks common to STGs. What really sets Hell Blasters apart from most shmups is the 'SPC' or what I assume is special attack. This is limited attack based on a recharge meter. It seems to deliver additional damage, but more importantly, it cancels enemy shots regardless of color. As orange bullets are basically popcorn enemies, that become rarer the higher the diifculty. Where as purple enemy shots aren't canceled by the players normal attacks. It's using this bullet canceling special that the player has to master as some bullet patter…

I'd recommend anyone to play this cool shooter, especially if they have any type of mental issue.

excellent game. thumping tunes, especially during boss battles. features online highscore replay viewing so you can see for yourself just how the pros do it. very approachable. played on normal and it felt pretty easy but there are more modes and difficulty options. on the border of the game it shows all of your available inputs and when they are triggered which is also nice

I've got a lot of great shoot 'em ups on my laptop such as Gunbird, Judgement Silversword and Ikaruga but this is just one of those that I always find myself always returning to. The reason is quite simple, the central mechanic of bullet cancelling with the special weapon makes this game really satisfying to play if you're just trying to see the game through to the end and even more satisfying to use if you want to chase large combo chains in order make a dent in the high score tables. The game has enough depth and difficulty options to keep you busy for plenty of time and the story mode and the easier difficulties will help you along your way to mastery. Seriously this game is extremely fun and I hope you buy this game, this isn't one to be missed!
