✦ AI summary
Players praise Hepta Beats as a challenging and fun rhythm platformer with excellent music and intelligently designed obstacles that successfully blend precision platforming with rhythm mechanics. Common complaints center on the game's very short length (around 9 levels), outdated pixel art graphics, and low resolution cap at 1080p that feels inadequate for modern displays, with some players finding it inferior to similar games like 140.
Hepta Beats is an unusual hybrid of 2D retro pixel platformer and rhythm game. Gameplay consists of traditional precision platforming, but the twist is that the jumping must be done to a specific rhythm as platforms phase in and out. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. The developers didn't design the game for modern gaming PCs, as such the game resolution caps out at 1080p, a very low resolution that became mainstream back in 2006 and became obsolete when 4K entered the mainstream in 2014. The game simply won't look right on modern gaming displays due to this failure on the part of the developers. PC gamers will be insulted by the requirement to use console peasant children's toy controllers, despite this being on PC. Developers should try to be aware which platform they're developing for, and must never dictate to gamers how a game should be played. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable …4 found this helpful

This is a great rhythm platforming game. Its all about timing, so just listen to the music. Although its a blast, it is very short. Its 9 levels, and clocked in at just 39 minutes for me, and I'm not a great precision platformer. So if you are, it could very well be a much shorter game.
Hepta Beats looks is a spiritual successor to 140, but it's many times worse in every category you could possibly judge it. This isn't the worst platformer I've played on Steam and it's nice that it's rhytm-based, but it needs a lot more work to be worth recommending.
This is a very well made Precision Plat-former. I am on level 4 at the time of this review. It is a very intelligent game. The obstacles placed are very challenging. But Not toooo difficult . The Music is GREAT .. Nice job with the colors and design. Man im really liking this game! Using Steam controller input it works fine with my Xbox controller. I want more levels!!!
