Do not buy this game, The devs have abandoned it and it has so many bugs. Hit boxes arent accurate so you will get hit when you see you shouldnt. Your shotgun and other guns will just stop working (see other reviews confirming its been a bug for over a year). No button optimisation. When you level up if your next to a mob already you will get hit when you select your "upgrade". I see no positives in this game. Probably the worst wave based game I have played and I love this genre. Save your money and buy anything else.6 found this helpful
Like Brotato - wave-based not endless runs and arena stages not open-world. Also, it only has auto-shooting guns. No turrets, garlic, melee, etc. It has some interesting ideas. Still not as good as a handful of other autoshooter survivorlikes (please stop calling these "bullet hells". "Bullet heaven" is cool tho). Pros - Good music. - Good player run speed. - Neat characters to unlock. - Your first level up is when you get to choose your spec (1 of 3). I think that's kind of a cool change up. Neutral - Your level up skills are either unique to your spec (permanent), healing, or a general upgrade that only lasts for 1 level. The lasting for 1 level thing is kinda...not my jive, but it's an acceptable design choice. - Wave reward items are weird. Guns are the only weapons. Axes, grenades, etc are just passive upgrades. And all passive upgrades seem to just be random. They have no real correlation to what the upgrade is. I.e. Two Golden Bullet III rewards can have totally different passive stats. Also, each upgrade has a negative passive stat, besides rank 1 upgrades. Just getting guns seems to be the best choice? Cons - No way to see your build during a run. - Weir…2 found this helpful
Hero Survival shows real promise through its weapon, enemy, and character variety, that makes its core gameplay loop entertaining but without many permanent upgrades it doesn’t feel rewarding. The bright graphics bring a more cheerful art style to the survivors-like genre and helps the game stand out against others in the subgenre. However, it feels light on features. I suggest keeping an eye on development and seeing if they enhance the game in the recent future. Right now it’s a bit of a hollow game with a very shiny coat on it. As for performance on the steam deck it runs really well. I had no issues what so ever and got good battery life. It's just too bland as a Survival game because of the lack of skills in game. There's only 3 classes and no mixing among them, which leads to a pretty repetitive gameplay.
Why not, give *Hero Survival* a try!? For those who could appreciate dynamic, tactical action and possibly admire inventive design, *Hero Survival* introduces a distinctive combination of chaotic, roguelike gameplay, and heroic allure. It appears to cater to both casual participants and those who might relish diving into intricate mechanics, delivering varied experiences with each attempt. With boundless upgrade possibilities, eccentric references, and compelling challenges, it could reward skill, creativity, and a penchant for all things heroic with many possible rewards!! Whether you pursue unpredictable gameplay or a celebration of heroic culture, *Hero Survival* just might prove to keep you entertained.
Probably the most boring autoshooter game I have ever played.
