About Hire

✦ AI summary

Hire is a medieval fantasy management game where you run a mercenary guild, negotiating dangerous contracts and sending hired fighters on perilous missions while living with the consequences of your decisions. What sets it apart is freeform negotiation where you talk naturally to clients, deep character management with flawed heroes who have personalities and limits, and procedurally generated worlds that create entirely new cities, factions, and stories with each campaign.

Hire is a medieval fantasy management game about running a small mercenary guild in a world of dangerous contracts, flawed heroes, hard bargains, and bad luck.People come to you with dangerous work. You negotiate the contract, hire the right fighters, equip them, choose the route, and send them into danger. If the deal was bad, the party was wrong, or the road turned ugly, the consequences come back to your office. The biggest hook is negotiation. You talk in your own words instead of choosing preset dialogue. Ask for more money, hide the danger, promise rewards, push desperate people too hard, or walk away. The people across the table have pride, fear, debts, reputations, memories, and limits.Every campaign creates a new world: a new city, map, economy, factions, families, heroes, quests, portraits, crests, locations, and problems. A new guild means a new cast, new risks, new opportunities, and a different history every time.If you like the long term management of Football Manager, the character and family drama of Crusader Kings, the dangerous expedition pressure of Darkest Dungeon, or the joy of dying from a perfect storm in Dwarf Fortress, you should feel at home here.

Run a fantasy mercenary business

You own a small mercenary guild. People bring you dangerous jobs, you negotiate the price, hire fighters, prepare the party, and try to make a profit. Pay too much and the guild bleeds money. Pay too little and the best fighters may refuse.

Every playthrough creates a new world

Each new game generates a fresh city, map, heroes, factions, families, cultures, quests, names, portraits, crests, locations, and stories. A new guild, a new cast, a new map, and new problems every campaign.

Negotiate in your own words

Talk naturally instead of choosing preset dialogue. Ask for more money, hide danger, promise safety, push your luck, or walk away. Every deal depends on who you are talking to and how far they are willing to bend.

Hire people, not units

The fighters you hire are not blank soldiers. They have personalities, skills, fears, injuries, gear, money problems, relationships, and memories. Some are brave. Some are greedy. Some are desperate. Some are famous enough to laugh at your offer.

Prepare the job, then live with the result

You choose who goes, what they carry, what route they take, and how cautious they should be. Then the party leaves without you. Travel is not a scripted cutscene. Routes, terrain, danger, events, injuries, and bad luck can all change what happens before the heroes even reach the fight.

Collect gear, artifacts, prestige, and scars

Win contracts, recover or commission rare equipment, chase legendary items, survive disasters, build your reputation, and grow your estate from a rented room into something worth defending.

✦ AI summary

Hire is a strategy game with deep NPC interactions and haggling mechanics that rewards player exploration and experimentation, though it has a steep learning curve that requires several hours to fully appreciate. Players praise its unique dialogue system, satisfying difficulty progression, and the freedom to approach problems organically without hand-holding, comparing it favorably to games like Battle Brothers. However, some find the initial confusion and slow pacing off-putting, and the game's use of AI-generated content is a point of curiosity rather than universal enthusiasm.

The game is hiding something realy unique. You have in depth and returning conversations with the people in the game. Haggling prices to pay and earn what mosly favours you, the player (i love haggling the way this game shows it to me). The game does not hold your hand. It is more like you are thrown into a different age and you try to survive in this world. The missions are hard (at the beginning, easyer in de midgame but still hard), you have to seek the balance between your gold and the people you get. You have to look around in the game for a few hours to get a sence of what world you are in, but once you start seeing the potential, you might just like it. I completed 1 mission after some 5 hours and it felt very satisfying when i finaly did. Now my jobs take maybe half an hour, still long but no 5 hours. *edit: i got almost 40 hours of playtime, and i can say that the game is still very challenging, at this moment i almost have a buffer for my hreos for a year. next up is buying a guild hall. gonna cost me dearly but it's very worth it. There is so much more this game has to offer. I must say, i use my own AI chat to help me a little through the game. but this game i…

This game is awesome. Kind of like Battle Brothers but you can use your ChatGPT subscription to generate quests, conversations, and events. I really like it!
