Solid atmospheric experience, though it has some rough edges. The Good: Vibe: The feeling of isolation is spot on. Audio: The music is easily the highlight—really carries the tension. Puzzles: Cleverly designed and satisfying to solve. The Mid: Visuals: A bit basic/generic, but they fit the aesthetic well enough. Movement: Can feel pretty clunky at times, which breaks the immersion slightly. Verdict: It’s a slow-burn walking simulator that prioritizes mood over polish. As an empath, sometimes it is hard playing games that can convey the feelings and emotions surrounding specific circumstances. Hollowreach - Alone for me was a game that did an amazing job putting me in my feelings. Among the way the alpha logs went, the way Anya's voice actress read her lines, and just the overall state of disrepair and decay of the playing space the gamer really got a feel for the turmoil and loss that has transpired and led to where Nathan has found himself. Gameplay wise I did appreciate the game telling me that the experience would be better with controller because I agree it was easier to play using my xbox controller. I was a little surprised and upset that the blades on Nathan's bag were only for show and not usable. The gun was fine but there was two or three times I managed to sneak up behind a zombie and wished there was a way to stealth kill them. The puzzles weren't too difficult and I didn't mind having to go back and forth to the different buildings after finding the keys. The keyhole image within the name of the game was a good and subtle touch that I didn't notice until after I beat the game. I want to thank the developers (or developer) for making this game. I really appreciate the effort and what they tried to do here. We need more games like this. The Problem: There are a lot of strong points but the game is very shallow overall right now. It just doesn't grasp me or make me want to continue playing it. All the elements are here but the gameplay. There's a big place with not a lot to do but walk around and look for a puzzle item. With that being said the game is only $6.99. This feels like the start of a really good game in alpha build though... it has a lot of potential. I honestly did not want to refund this game because I like this project and want to support the developer. I only refunded it because I don't think it has any entertainment value for ME right now.
