Horse Runner DX

On the Surface, Horse Runner DX looks like a simple endless runner with some roguelike elements, and for the most part, that's what it is. However, simple does not have to mean negative. Some QoL improvements I would like to see added would be more variety in the missions, more roguelike / roguelite elements to spice up runs, and different obstacles other than rocks and rivers to challenge you on your runs. I'd also like to see more horses available as selections between each levels. Where are the horses I unlocked throughout the game? They only seem to be available to select at the beginning of each run. They should be part of the pool that you can select from each time you pass a level so I can get an extra lifesaver or boost to my speed / points / apple collection, etc. If I lose my main horse that has power ups and protective upgrades, it's gone for the rest of the run. Having them as rare unlocks or in the pool could be a huge boon to the excitement of continuing a dying run. I'd also like to see the…

I don't know what possessed me to buy or to play this, as I am not a... uhh.. horse guy. I think I was hoping it would be like Dino Run or Bit Trip Runner. Needless to say, I played it and I am going to recommend it given the promise of the game, the price, and to support the developer BUT I have some issues with the game, and addressing these I think could improve the game: When you get going really fast the background chunks which is uncomfortable on the eyes and makes it tough to time jumps. I tried changing refresh rates, frame rates, VSync, parallax effects, etc., but to no avail. It seems from comments I am not the only one who has this problem. I see there are a lot of options in settings for this, but that signals to me that the developers may know this is a problem and put it on the user to solve. This isn't Call of Duty, It should run clean and smooth at 60fps on capable hardware out of the box. It's hard to see items you hit sometimes as they sort of blend in to the background. Novelty comes from the fact that you can purchase different upgrades as you play that you pay for with the apples that you catch. But the upgrades that seem to be mostly more points or apple multipliers. I can't say that adds a whole lot of novelty and given that I'm not much into endless runners this game is definitely not for me. Withholding rating since it's not my genre but from what I can see it's implemented competently so I'm giving it a thumbs up. Postscript playing the game made me feel mildly ill. I suspect it has something to do with how the graphics are set up unfortunately there is a toggle to turn off whatever it is the developer thinks is causing this but there's no way to get back to that setting as far as I can see after discovering that you were one of the people who were affected. I would strongly advise making that toggle much more easily findable especially after the fact when you're likely to realize that you're one of those people.
