At some point, Hyper Meteor, the binary, colour based, kind of Asteroids inspired shooter where you didn’t shoot previously exclusive to the Playdate handheld got ported to PC, and I picked it up in a semi recent sale. Whilst I appreciated the design of the game when I played it as part of Playdate's Season 1, I always struggled with the control scheme because I found that using the crank to choose your direction of boost never felt particularly comfortable. It was serviceable, but not quite as precise as I wanted for a high score game like this. Fast forward to its big screen release, and suddenly it all makes way more sense. I never liked Asteroids, but this? This is one of my favorite games of all time!

Fantastic game that deserves more reviews! This is perhaps the purest distillation of what a video game should be. Simple, addictive, a variety of modes and a great soundtrack -

This was one of my favourite games on the Playdate so as soon as I heard I could play on my desktop I was in. And it's great! I'd just love for it to have keyboard controls. Holding a mouse button or trackpad down is painful. At least let me thrust with a key. And maybe allow up/down or left/right on a trackpad to control direction rather than using a pointer. Please explore different controls. Thanks. Still great though!

A great retro-modern arcade game, nailing the "just one more time" formula and providing fabulous value of pure fun, with well-done visual design and soundtrack. Although i wish you could disable the screen-shake.

Fun game. I intend to spend more time in this one when I get a chance.
