Players praise this as a fantastic and immersive tank simulator that successfully revives the classic M1 Tank Platoon experience, though some note it's been a hidden gem for years. However, the Windows 11 port has significant technical issues, particularly a physics glitch where vehicles accelerate to unrealistic speeds (300-400+ kph) when going down slopes, which severely breaks immersion and makes gameplay problematic. Additionally, players report various compatibility and input problems, with some unable to get the game running at all on modern systems despite the port's promise.
This is a fantastic tank sim. It's basically an unofficial M1 Tank Platoon 3. It's wonderful that they got it running under Windows 11. That said, as I write this, I can't get my joystick to work. I'll report back if I can get this fixed,34 found this helpful
iM1a2 is rightly a fantastic game in its original form working in win95. This release of the game however has ignored the problem of it running too fast in modern windows it seems and this is to its detriment. In the original game you might see vehicles speed up a bit crazily as they go down steep slopes, seemingly with no brakes, but that was tolerable . In this release the internal clock or something of the game is just too too fast and as a result if a vehicle goes down even a small slope it speeds off and away, if its a steep slope then it becomes utterly insane and vehicles are flying around literally at 300-400kph. I played a scenario and the enemy t-80s were flying through the sky like cruise missiles after they must gone down a slope and reach phenomenal speeds that then launch them off the next slop altogether. The smoke graphics are also faulty - in the original game, smoke plumes drift up and away from burning wrecks while in this version they are sit on the vehicle. This version is also unpatched and I have messaged microprose about it but it has fallen on deaf ears. When this game is working correctly it is superb and arguably better than m1 tank platoon 2, exc…23 found this helpful

I can't get this game to run. I tried launching it in a Windows XP virtual machine, and it asked me to install a DLL patch, but the game still won't open! Didn't they test whether the game is compatible with the latest Windows systems before releasing it?1 found this helpful
Physics glitch that causes vehicles to launch across the map at 400 mph, and it's very frequent. You play this game for immersion, and with a Bradley sailing across the desert at 400 miles per hour the immersion breaks just a bit.
