About IMA Miner

Strap into your drill ship, point it straight down, and don't look up.IMA Miner is a game about greed and gravity. Punch through a sprawling procedural underground one layer at a time — the deeper you go, the better it pays. Richer ore. Rarer finds. Weirder stuff. The catch: none of it's worth anything until you haul it back to the surface, and your fuel won't last. Go too deep, and the climb home becomes the most dangerous part of the run.Sell your haul up top, bolt upgrades onto your ship, and dive again — a little further each time.

Dig. Get rich. Push your luck.

  • Descend a massive procedurally generated underground — layers of dirt, rock, ore, and things you probably weren't expecting to find.
  • Upgrade your drill ship — a better drill, a bigger fuel tank, more cargo space, a larger engine, or a brighter light. Each upgrade will allow you to reach farther into the unknown.
  • Mine ore and buried treasure — the good stuff hides deep, and it pays for everything.
  • Pack fuel, dynamite, and flares — for boulders, stubborn geology, and things that won't negotiate. Make sure to keep enough fuel for the climb back.

New in 2.0

  • Overhauled visuals, audio, and lighting throughout the underground.
  • Unlockable skins tied to achievements.
  • Full controller support and a native Linux build.
  • Steam Cloud saves.
  • ???

How far down will you go?

It knows you're coming. Drill carefully.

I've had this seemingly unremarkable game in my wishlist for a while, but when it was in a Steam sale I finally picked it up. Since no one else has reviewed it, I figured I'd share my thoughts... It's a simpler cousin to the genre of games that includes the old Flash game Motherlode, Miner Dig Deep from the XBOX 360 (and re-released on Steam), and more modern/innovative versions like the Mining Mechs series, among others. I'd argue the more recent 3D games inspired by A Game About Digging A Hole are an offshoot of this game genre too. The good news is, the game is perfectly functional, and seems to be a labor of love by, I'm guessing, a solo dev. I didn't encounter any bugs, and it runs fine on my Steam Deck. Controls are simple and sensible, but there's no remapping options. The game saves progress when returning to the menu, and I never had any problem going back to the game across multiple sessions. There are a decent amount of ore types, along with standard upgrades. Graphics are as shown in the previews, and while the light around your digger isn't useful near the top, it gets quite dark the deeper you go so light is needed. (Flares help with that too.) It offers a few thin…

It's a total time suck. One of those games to play and just have something to do to pass the time. Peaceful and enjoyable, especially after that new update.
