About INFERNIUM

✦ AI summary

Escape a nightmarish hellscape by outwitting relentless enemies and uncovering hidden shortcuts across 17 interconnected levels where every choice permanently alters the world. This brutal puzzle-chase game stands out for its persistent world, strategic death mechanics, non-linear design that shifts each playthrough, and robust mod support letting you reshape the entire experience.

Pac-Man in hell

Infernium is a game filled with brutal challenges to overcome. While playing the game you won’t be able to kill or damage most of the enemies but at the same time running away without a second though is not the solution. While being chased you will need to think and reconsider your strategy and open hidden shortcuts while the world and it’s lore will unfold around you in a non-linear way making each playthrough diferent. From the creator of the multi awarded indie game of the year MIND: Path to Thalamus and the dev grant winner Koral.
Every little change you make in Infernium will remain like that forever. As a player you will have to be smart about harvesting (or not) Light, interacting with doors, barriers and elevators and even your death. Dying does not reset the world, it’s part of the experience. That’s why there will be consequences if you act careless with your deaths.

Infernium is one of the easiest games to mod using the free Unreal Engine 4. If the world of Infernium is not enough for you explore the Workshop to download expansions, modifications of Infernium or even brand new games, done with Infernium's content or custom content! PCMR Only feature.

Can hell be beautiful?

Infernium needed memorable appealing environments (instead of the usual images of a hell full of fire, suffering, screams and lots of reddish, gore landscapes) because in Infernium the most beautiful environments are also the most dangerous ones. This tends to generate disconfort, anxiety and inquietude in the player. It is no coincidence most of the brutal dangers in Infernium can be found at daylight in plain sight rather than in the darker claustrophobic environments.

I finally finished this game 100% after coming back at it several years later. I can honestly say, considering the reviews, that this game is the most underrated game I know. It has so much to offer that I dont get why it isn't more famous. It's clearly a little gem, a hard one sure, but a gem nontheless. If you want to buy this game you need to know few things first : - You want a challenging puzzle game. - You appreciate horror game for their feeling of being weak and constantly hunted. - You have a good 3D spatial intelligence and good wayfinding ability. - You like to understand things by yourself. - You enjoy having a fragmented lore you'll have to explore to find your answers. If you check, I would say, 4 out of these 5 things then you should like it (maybe more ?). I was myself so involed playing I was like the main protagonist. Deaths sometimes felt like I had been shot in my back, thus making the pleasure of success so enjoyable. I'll always remember once you understand the "thing" about the level design. I was in awe. So, try to avoid all spoilers and live the adventure. The cherry on top, once you unlocked all path, is reading all the logs and finally complete the wh…

Infernium crashes consistently every time I get about one minute into the game. I have tried setting my graphics to low but the game still crashes. It's not like my PC is slow either. it can run Counter Strike Two at max graphics at 200 fps. I am very disappointed because I just bought this game and I thought it would be really fun. I can't find a single way to get it to work. I also couldn't find anything online about it. Not sure if i should recommend this game or not. Edit: The community was really helpful and someone told me to paste a code into my launch settings. The game runs great and it was a really easy fix. It is a really fun and creative game. It is difficult and requires a lot of thought. There is a lot of work put into this game and it isn't the only good game this dev has made. Good job!

Perfect example for why there should be a mixed/neutral button for reviews because I can totally see why this appeals to this small niche of masochist gamers, it checks all the right boxes with the games framework, but at least gameplay wise this was torture. The atmosphere and environment was top notch, loves the various areas you got to explore in this game, issue comes with some of the inhabitants of those areas and how they really badly want to make your time a living hell as they realise what kind of game they're in. Which from I experienced is a hardcore "permadeath" survival horror with no direction full of cryptic story and puzzles and scary enemies and put together to the level this game takes it is almost too much. I really had to lock in to one tap my first and second playthrough as I realised the game wont save your data when quitting, and will take you back to a checkpoint almost nowhere near where you quit from. And I mean REALLY lock in cause man this games exploration will cause you harm with how it tells you almost nothing. Now just like there are people willing to sink hundreds of hours into Rimworld or Dwarf Fortress, there will be and are people willing to do th…

Slow, dark, boring, annoying and just all round terrible. Don't waste your money!

Interesting concept, but very rough around the edges. Sound design needs polish, movement needs polish, gameplay needs polish, story needs polish. Sound mixing is all over the place, some sounds play very oddly (ie wooden footsteps on stone floor, ambient sound and gameplay sound is jarringly contrasted). Plays very clunky. Intro is supposed to convey some sort of story but just a black screen with the sound of a car crash, then instantly into the game world. Price drops drastically on a sale. Otherwise it is definitely not worth the full price.

Garbage. Crashes after 2-3 minutes, no matter if I'm in game or in the main menu. The issue is not my system, because I have tried it on THREE different PCs, including the brand new gaming system I built just a few months ago.
