InMaze

This story gripped me till the very end. I wont spoil it... but what happened to Annie may shock you. Play if you dare!

InMaze is a badly made 2D retro pixel top down shooter/adventure game where for some reason you went camping next to a dungeon maze full of monsters, and also you have chronic, recurrent amnesia. Ok. Gameplay consists of navigating the maze and shooting at the various monsters that attack you. This feels a lot more like a student project than a serious attempt at making a video game. The 2D retro pixel art was so bad, it seemed like it obviously couldn't have been asset flipped, but the developer acknowledges in the game credits that they took art assets from an open/royalty free asset site. Given how bad the assets look, it almost feels like the developer decided to go on a crime spree, but only stole really cheap store brand toothpicks. A choice was made to use obsolete retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. Resolution is locked and can't be changed, and there's no visual or graphics tweaks, so there's no way to improve the very lazy, mediocre visuals. The game is pretty rough, not just around the edges, but right through it's core. With that said the main mystery played out well enough and I went well beyond my typical 5 minute first impression test of the game and finished it outright. I'd say it's meh at best but that is is with it's potato graphics and controls taken into consideration so *shrugs*. If you get it in a cheap bundle and like horror mystery I wouldn't count it as a negative.
