About Just Death

Just Death is an “Open-World Sandbox Crime Game” set in procedurally generated cities. At its core gameplay mode - Just Death is my take on the Vigilante genre. You must rid the streets of “thugs and scum” using your antihero, playing in the first or third person. Due to the procedural nature of the environments, I can provide ample replayability with ease. The game has an Online open-city multiplayer mode, and 3 offline gameplay modes (Vigilante, Bank Heist, and Gang War).

Gameplay modes
Vigilante ( clean up the streets from scum and bad guys ). Bank Heist ( rob the bank with friends, and escape the procedural cities ). Gang War ( fight for control of the city against other gangs ).You can also play online in a multiplayer open-city mode.

Procedural City Generation
The core feature of Just Death is the Procedurally Generated Cities. With a feature like this, I can provide the players with almost unlimited gameplay environments, by simply changing the “seed number” used to randomly generate the world, or by changing the simplistic input splines which form the “backbone” or basis for the city generation. See the image below for a visualization of the input and output my technology can produce. One issue that has plagued procedurally generated environments for the longest time is that they always look “boring”.

My solution was to simulate every layer of a city individually with as much detail as possible, to hopefully alleviate the repetition. The static environment details I procedurally generate include: buildings, skyscrapers, roads, sidewalks, intersections, crosswalks, elevated train tracks, alleyways, plazas, parks, fences, traffic lights, street lights, trees, fire hydrants, phone booths, newspaper dispensers, trash bins, dumpsters, garbage bags, paper debris, sewers, vents, utility access panels, and more!

Below are a set of real-time images from the Procedurally Generated Cities in Just Death.
Core Features @ Final Release
- Procedurally Generated Cities
- Online Mulitplayer Open-City mode (64 players-per-server, currently supports 16 in test servers), and 3 Offline Gameplay modes (Vigilante, Bank Heist, and Gang War).
- 50+ Weapons (when game is finished)
- 25+ Vehicles (when game is finished)
- XP/Rank/Statistics tracking through Steam

✦ AI summary

Players overwhelmingly report that this game has been abandoned by its developer, with the last update arriving in March and no meaningful progress since launch despite initial promises. Common complaints include poor core mechanics like terrible car handling and broken AI, overpricing at $15 for unfinished content, and a severely limited single static city that becomes stale within hours, with dead multiplayer and broken bank robbery missions. One player expressed hope for more games in this crime/post-apocalyptic genre if the developer commits to actual development, but the consensus is clea

Updated twice, and then "worked on in private". TL;DR: At this point in time, just avoid this game. The dev may still be working on the game but when the last "Recent Update" on the store page of steam says March 4th it seems safe to say nothing has happened for a long time now. When the game was first put up for pre-order I posted on the dicussion board questioning the dev on the games state his plan and the how what he appeared to be releasing was something that he had been making for years. I asked it in a rude way though and it was removed from the discussions. We continued to talk about the game and decided I wanted to invest in him and his game. I must say after coming back to the game months later to see what has changed and finding nothing it definitely feels my initials thoughts were correct, in that he was trying to make some money off of his months/years of work. This was especially disheartening as I felt that he wanted his game to succeed realised there wasn't many people buying and stood a large step back. I also invested hours playing and bug reporting in the hopes that the game would quickly get better over time.

Wtf happened, i was so looking forward to this game when it first came out and bought it the day it came out. After playing an hour of it i realized it was awful and not worth $15. I then returned it but planed to buy it much later when it was updated and overall a playable game (because the game sounded great on paper and had potential). I have now returned to see if its worth the $15 and shockingly it hasent been updated since i returned it. This game could have been great but there were so many things wrong with this project from the begining, that made it doomed from the start. First off charging $15 for this is almost criminal, when i played back in early march (which was the last time it was updated) it wasnt even worth $1 and im sure still isn't. So there was its biggest problem it was barely finised and not even worth $1 and the dev charges not $5 not even $10 but $15 for a game that in my opinion wasnt even 10% complete smh. The dev also said at the time that this game was 66% complete XD that was one of the biggest lies yet and i get it you want to give people assurance that the game will be complete sooner than later but obviously the game didnt even come close to 66%. …

This game has been completely abandoned - Do not buy this, the dev has just completely up and left this game. Save your money and buy something else, this needs to come off from Steam.

I shouldn't recommend this honestly, it's been abandoned since not long after launch and has been gathering cobwebs ever since. At present it contains one static city you can hunt bikers, cops, or rival gang members in. JD includes functional 24 hour day/night cycles with weather including snow. There's first-person driving if you want it complete with terrible-handling cars and iffy AI that causes more fender benders than open mic night on a Russian dashcam video stream. You can also rob a bank and try to escape with some AI buddies...but you likely won't make it. Multiplayer's completely dead and solo play gets stale after a couple hours. Then again it was 90% off so...ehh, you could do a lot worse. I keep hoping this developer will turn out a game with staying power but I think Gettysburg: Armored Warfare was his peak. Pity, dude had some decent ideas.

This is one of the worst games I have seen to ever be released in early access. It had 2 updates I believe? And then it was just dropped like a red headed step child. The developer just took the money and ran.
