Kagami: An Odyssey in Japanese Language Learning

I bought the game early on with a friend because we were trying to start learning Japanese together hoping to go on a trip to Japan soon. Plans fell through and I kind of forgot about it for a little bit, but started playing it again here and there, and I saw their latest update, so I figured Id throw in my opinion. The Good: -Silly game with lots of heart and lots of dad humor, the animation is also really good (everyone is very bouncy), and lots of cultural references like how not to leave chopsticks in rice and stuff like that -Some of the minigames are actually really fun! The overall vibe is super retro and I love that. I really like the disco one and the driving one. Some of them are just ok, but for the most part, I got what they were going for. -Just a ton of learning content in general (I still haven't used the kanji mode, need to work on that) -I actually like how the tone changes to dark here and there, but thats just me The Less Good (I like the game, so I'm trying to be nice): -Does not hold your hand at all. If you don't explore the area to learn the vocab for that area, you're gonna have a bad time. Just take your time to explore before rushing to fight the bo…

Amazing game! 10/10 I've always liked learning games, but they are usually very repetitive or they expect you to memorize stuff inmediatly... But not in this one! I'm actually amazed by the creativity and love the developers have put into this! It's not tedious, it's not boring, and it's actually pretty fun! I would still like it even if it wasn't for learning japanese! The RPG approach is very clever imo, grinding is fun and you memorize stuff at the same time so you start to learn very naturally, also is not boring even if you are a little above beginner, cause you can skip some basic stuff Something i would like to mention tho is the save feature... It has no cloud save and no way to sync files, i've lost my saves twice and it's gotten tedious, but other than that it's a pretty good game! I can't wait to finish it! (Hopefully without having to start from the beggining again TvT)

masterpiece enjoyed playing it

I have admittedly not gotten far, but so far it is fun, with lots of minigames, and if I have only one negative comment it's that the lofi graphics style leaves some of the kanji pretty hard to make out.

The game is a very fun RPG to play and it is a great way to learn Japanese as the way that it is possible to learn is through repetition. I'm currently onto the 3rd yokai boss at the moment.

I’m about 3 hours in and WOW…. This game is so incredibly fun and genuinely helpful! I really love it and can’t wait to play more. It’s so well done and the jokes are amazing 😅 EDIT: 15+ hours and WOW, I absolutely loved the game! Got stuck a few times like a gamer noob but man O man was this fun. I wish there was more and I think I might re-play it soon. It was the most help I've had with learning Japanese so far. Duo get's millions but this is where it;s at for basic Hiragana :D I want more for Katakana now.
