I have a hard time reviewing this game. It doesn't do anything new or really special, the UI is old fashioned, the game is clunky in more ways than one, and it's basically just a simpler Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom. But somehow I had a lot of fun with it. It has a similar puzzle element as the old Impressions games. There is always a rock where it shouldn't be. Or the map is cut in half by a mountain and it's a long track to get to the other side, or you can only import very limited resources so you have to calculate how many houses you want to evolve, but if you don't evolve houses it can be pretty hard to make money (things are expensive and trading is quite limited). Once you figure out how the logistics works, the city building is very flexible, you don't really have to make efficient blocks. What I liked: -Flexible building, there are many ways to design your cities, which is nice -Working military. It's pretty much the same as Caesar III's (with the awkward control and all), but you can upgrade them as they gain experience. And speaking of upgrades... -Attention to detail. A homage to the old Sierra/Impressions games, in particular to [b]Emperor: Rise of the middle kingdom.[/b] It's good. Could be better, as it doesn't innovate much on the original formula, and the animations are a little coarse, but it's good and, above all, a pleasure to watch. The lamps illuminating your city at night are really pretty. Game runs well in Linux via Wine/Proton.

Solid classic-style citybuilder (like Caesar 3/Pharaoh/Emperor), with a charming lofi artstyle.

The game does not load/play offline . This is a no go for me. Hope the developer can fix this.

This game is beautiful! I love the old school graphics and the atmosphere created in this game! It's a lot better than I expected! I haven't built an army or had any battles yet, and I'm still really enjoying the game just for the city building, and economy management. Progress from building a basic settlement to a self-sustaining town to is surprisingly complex, and there's a lot of management to be done. A lot more than I expected, so the depth to this game is great for the price! I'm still figuring out the economy and trading system, but the tutorial that guides you along the way does it's job. It won't teach you how to do things efficiently, but it will teach you the basics. Which is good. That way you know how to use the systems, but have to fine tune your efficiency through trial and error (as you should). The pacing of this game is a little slower than City Skylines, but very enjoyable to watch the growth, and discover the depth of it's systems. Terrible. Trying to create the fun of Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom without any of the fun or charm. No way to skip the awful tutorial with seizure inducing flashing icons. Constant repetitive sounds. About every 30 seconds it will be a cow moo then a gong smash. I really wanted to like this game by its concept but it is truly awful.
