Don't get me wrong — Kathy Rain is a wonderful game. A great detective adventure with an occult flavour and a likable protagonist. But this Director's Cut is a completely pointless and unnecessary. It doesn't add anything fundamentally new to the game, and it drags out sections that were already good as they were. The whole set of changes between the original game and the DC would've been enough for a small update or a bonus DLC. Instead, we got an entire separate game that costs one and a half times as much as the original.

The best $2 game you can buy during the summer sale and play through the summer as well

This game is very story and character driven. Kathy Rain is a complicated college woman in 1995 who returns to her hometown after her grandfather passes away. She confronts her past as she finds out more and more on the mystery looming over the town. The game is impressive with balancing Kathy’s dry humor with a rather sad tale. The performances in this game are just incredible especially Arielle Siegel who plays Kathy. I grew up playing point-and-click mysteries so this was right up my alley! If you love a dark humored mystery similar to Twin Peaks, this one is for you.

Yes. What? Need more? Well, player's discretion advised as there are really hard topics in the story. Very well written. Very well acted. Most puzzles maybe a little too easy for a point&click veteran like me and one a little too cryptic. Hints for the achievements are well-thought out (ok, I had to check a guide for one). Replay value (making getting all achievements less of a chore) to try out different answers because they're all "mwah!" *chef's kiss* Currently waiting for KR2 to not be on sale to follow Kathy and Eileen (I have such a crush on Eileen T_T ). While KR1DC is on sale, grab the original as well. Play the Director's Cut first, it IS much better. And then, play the original. You'll appreciate the work done to give us the DC as well as another twist on the story.

Damn that was good. Some tricky puzzles, loads of missing achievements that will make me go in again. Pixel art was not an issue, game doesn't need UE5 graphics to be good. thoroughly enjoyed my time here.

An excellent adventure game! For me It took a while to get going, the story was kind of slow early on and the puzzles in the beginning was not the best. But sometime around day 3 (the game is divided in five days) it clicked and i started to really enjoy the game. By the end I was hooked, I'm officially a Kathy Rain fan and can't wait to play the sequel. A great game for anyone who likes classic point and click adventure games, a modern classic for a reason!
