Keep the Lights On is an atmospheric horror game where you step in the shoes of Edmund Rosental, a private detective, who is tasked with investigating an old abbey and the mystery surrounding it. Will he be able to keep the lights on or will he succumb to the darkness?
In Keep the Lights On, the player will experience a terrifying tale of horror by exploring the environments, interacting with the environments and completing puzzles. The player can discover hidden sections of the abbey with platforming and defend himself from the darkness with holy water. As the player explores and solves mysteries, the dark past of the haunted abbey will be uncovered.

The hardened, resigned detective who lost his wife trope meets The Nun (2018), and I’m here for it! I’m still surprised that this was free because, for what it was, it was really fun. Sweet, short, straight-to-the-point, it had some fun mechanics, and I really enjoyed the puzzles. Coupled with the creepy atmosphere and the cosy vibes of the pixel art, it makes for a perfect little game to kick off fall! (My only gripe is the font, which was really difficult to read at times.)5 found this helpful
"Keep the Lights On" is a poorly made 2D pixelcrap side view adventure game that escaped containment at Itch where this kind of amateur mediocrity belongs, so we have to put up with it here on Steam. Despite the pixelcrap this isn't the worst game on Steam, but it's so far from being the best it's not funny. The plot is dry and uninspired, you're an investigator exploring a haunted abbey. The key challenge in the game is staying awake long enough to alt+F4 and uninstall. There's also a number of unresolved bugs that can softlock you out of completing the game, not that anyone would want to (see the player count numbers below). This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. this was a great game and i enjoyed playing this the scares the sounds the art everything about this i'm gonna go and see if they produced any other games also i do recomend everyone play it and have their experience have fun finding secrets and all
Overall a cool spooky game, but I ran into a few game-breaking bugs where I couldn't interact with important objects, leading to me needing to start a whole new game. I couldn't interact with the candle puzzle in the chapel no matter what I tried so I started a new game, only to be unable to interact with a painting piece. Both very annoying! I recommend anyways because I think it's a neat project, but that bug definitely needs work. Controls and movement were kind of clunky as well.
