Kemono Mahjong

Arguably the easiest way of learning Riichi Mahjong. And you've guessed right, I'm here because of Yakuza.

well presented riichi implementation with a good tutorial (that also covers things you need to know for in person play, going from total noob to playing this for a few days to jumping into a local club was very smooth), can be played offline against the computer, nice with controller and on the steam deck (despite saying steam deck is unsupported) also (importantly) it does not have gacha, microtx or gratuitous sexualization unlike majsoul or riichi city. Recommended, especially for those newer to the game wanting a version that will teach you the game and is low stakes, easy to get into and comfy, or ppl who want a offline implemetation of riichi for the deck that you won't feel as embarrassed playing on the subway as the gooner ones.

Fun Mahjong game to play with friends, no complaints I recommend to try out with your friends

I really like this game, it teaches the basic of japanese mahjong. Also available on Android. The only minus is, the text is really small when you play it on a big screen. I think the developer should adjust the interface to make it more tv friendly.

While a bit spartan and under-tutorialized, I found Kemono Mahjong a perfectly fine way to go from a pinky's grasp on riichi mahjong's basics rules to confident in my fundamentals. Don't expect Night at the Poker Inventory for furry weebs - the character portraits are nice, but dialogue relegated to brief reactions and always a teensy bit awkward. Despite the title, the mahjong comes first. Thankfully, the mahjong is presented cleanly, with enough assistance and automation to keep things speedy and focus on the decision-making. (The assistance is maybe a bit too much, but it's a nice learning aid.) The presentation is nice, too - pleasant music and backgrounds that don't intrude too much. As a vector for learning and playing riichi mahjong, Kemono Mahjong is perfectly fine. I'm hoping I can bug three friends into picking it up and see how it plays against humans!
