Despite my distaste for the term (we really need a better name for this genre), it brings certain expectations to mind. Limited gameplay, great environments, and a focus on plot/characterization are what I expect. Kinsfolk, the debut game of developer Vinko Kodzoman, is able to capture some of these strengths. Its high points made it worth playing for me, but not to the extent others might enjoy it. I'll do my best to explain why this was a good game to me, and why it might be a great one for others. [h3]Story[/h3] Kinsfolk follows the journey of a nameless husband whose nameless wife has recently died. Thankfully he has his nameless baby to keep him motivated, and he decides to go somewhere important while thinking over past events that haunt him to this day. A beautiful, short story game, that explores loss, grief, and the feelings that follow that when it comes to moving on. Although the experience was short, it was impactful, I definitely recommend.

As a father, I relate to this game SO HARD. Did not expect this to hit me in the feel, but it did. Well done on this!

A great game with a great story. The story turned out incredibly beautiful, it touches the soul and makes you think about what matters most. It is the perfect inspiring adventure to completely immerse yourself in on a Friday night after a hard week. I highly recommend everyone embark on this captivating journey! Cute short game, I liked the narrative, gameplay was easy, graphics were okay overall, little bit confusing of the jumping, would have loved more about the dynamic between his wife and father, but overall nice game

I tried the demo and liked it, so got the game as well. Wow! really loved it. The main highlight of the is the screenplay, the story is good, but the way it is narrated, that made amazing! The game is perfect for cozy gamers and casual gamers as it is simple, good paced with an easy gameplay The whole journey is quite interesting and suited for story rich or people looking for meaningful stories. Adding a bit of platforming, catching chickens made it a bit more engaging than simple walking and interacting with objects. The whole graphics are good and the game is quite stable (haven't come across a serious bug in the whole run) The environment makes it quite easy to jump into the shoes of the protagonist. The whole color scheme, lighting and music are well selected. Even with the storytelling and a bit of side activities, it is majorly a walking simulator, which could become monotonous for some. The whole point of not having any directions or indicating where to go next, made me a bit doubtful if I am moving in the right direction, but somehow always it worked out.
