About Kodama Battles

Kodama Battles is a singleplayer autobattler/autochess with roguelite deckbuilder elements in a chill setting.
  • Build your team: Collect, place and upgrade Kodamas to build a powerful team. Kodamas have 3 levels (1,2 then 3 Stars). Many also have a last level making them fuse with another one to create a Mega Kodama.
  • Double battlefield: Teams are separated into an attack and a defense squad for each battle. Mindful team management is required to attack effectively while leaving enough defenses to survive.
  • Unique abilities: Most Kodamas have one straightforward but impactful ability. Mega Kodamas have game changing abilities.
  • Combos: Impactful and diverse abilities lead to many many synergies and counters. Experiment to find new ways to play.
  • Scaling difficulty: Unlock new difficulties upon run completion. The first difficulty is suitable for anyone. But meticulous team management and positioning are required to best the higher difficulties.
  • Playstyle defining paths: The paths chosen bring further customization (modify drop rates, add positioning options...) and will lead to an unique build each run.
  • Strategize peacefully: The calm of a lunar illuminated woodland is perfect to relax and strategize.

Kodama Battles offers a refreshing twist to the auto battler genre by taking players on a journey with the spirits of the forest . If you're a fan of auto battlers like TFT, but prefer a solitary gaming experience, Kodama Battles might be the breath of fresh air you've been looking for.

A charming and very chill little autobattler. Aesthetically, it's very appealing; the kodama designs are distinctive and cute, the backdrop and menus are pretty and not over complicated and the sounds are pleasant enough, with a very chill lo-fi soundtrack to top it all off. Gameplay-wise, it's an autobattler so it's not intended to be super involved, but it is fun picking which kodama to level up and weighing the pros vs cons of a full board over getting more re-rolls. All in all, a nice little game to relax with after a busy day and a nice way to introduce a younger audience to autobattlers without the risk of the toxic online chats of many of the better known competitive ones. 8/10 :)

This is not a bad game by any means, but it should definitely still be in early access. It's unintuitive as a whole, where it really shows in 3 areas, one is with the difficulty scaling as there are random bosses which have differing HP values, some of which rival a bosses, not sure if that is intended or not but if it is, I'd rather it be more consistent, like having that as an optional elite. There is also very little difficulty difference between Starter, Cozy and Normal and when you hit hard, it suddenly gives you 7 max spaces and not 10, which is a massive restriction, I'd understand if it was 8 or 9 and only allowing a max of 10 or 11 spaces but the restriction is like I mentioned before, unintuitive and totally out of left field. Speaking about spaces, they are sometimes being bugged and not shown properly, the game also occasionally crashes which makes you lose all progress of the run. And lastly, I wish the UI was a bit cleaner, like adding more unique nodes to a run and having more of them between fights and occasionally have a couple fights in 1 step and showing you exactly what the nodes do, like showing the the ? nodes are all just 50/50's between a 0 or a 2 from the g…
