I am torn! Forewarning: I think indie fighting games are awesome and there should be a never ending supply of them. As long as a game has a unique point of view and strong spirit, I'm going to probably recommend it. That's just my bias. First, game play, which (for me!) is most important: I think there is a subset of fighting game player that very specifically loves games with the most unhinged combos baked into the game, and, well, while that is not me and I almost never seek out this srt of thing, I nonetheless bumped into this game's infinite protection system almost instantly: this game allows you to not just do light->light, but heavy->heavy, and when a character has a heavy that moves forward... yeah, you got ground stun corner carry infinites, and the only reason you'll drop them is either the game just giving you an artificial "you can no longer cancel" situation after 4 reps or by the corner messing it up. That's extremely not my kind of game, but I've seen enough people play MvC2 to know it might be yours. It feels like a weird identity crisis to have, though, when you consider this sort of "anything goes" combo system is paired with no crouch/no lows/no overheads that…9 found this helpful
Giant Birb stage. Detailed painterly style and a pretty unique combat system that feels inspired, in part, by Mortal Kombat.1 found this helpful
The devs bought me authentic Chicago deep dish pizza so I'm obligated to give their game a good review. In all seriousness, I did get the chance to meet the team at Circean Studios while at Combo Breaker 2025, They're genuinely awesome people and you can really tell they put their heart, soul, blood, sweat and tears into Konsui Fighter, they stand by their product, and it DEFINITELY shows. Staying up all night polishing the game and squashing bugs til the 11th hour while STILL managing to put together and run a booth as well as a tournament which I was a part of! Konsui Fighter is definitely niche and we probably won't see it on the main stage at EVO, but that's okay. I really do hope the game finds its audience. There's a lot going on under the hood of Konsui Fighter than meets the eye. The controls feel tight and responsive and every character is unique and have all their own quirks, combos and special moves. The roster might turn some people off as there are only 8 characters but I'm a firm believer that a fighting game doesn't need 100 characters to be enjoyable. Most people only play one, maybe 2 anyway. The game even has actual game modes like a story and arcade mode for tho…
