Landlord Simulator (2018)

This is weirdly enjoyable if you spend a few hours with it, but the negative reviews are fairly spot on in that there's not much of a game here. Were Valve ever to add a Neutral option to reviews Landlord Simulator would get one from me. LS really does feel like a spreadsheet in many ways, an asset flip in others...and yet I still sort of liked playing it. Buying and renting out houses is viable if you don't mind constantly fast-forwarding time to barely earn your initial investment back over an extended period. Stores on the other hand are money pits, depending on item pricing and staff wages you can easily rake in $100k in less than twenty minutes with one store by abusing the game time speed option. There are optional minigames aside from the necessary (or not if you hire a worker) ones of repairing broken objects in your owned homes, but these earn little and are somewhat tedious due to collision issues with AI characters. I can respect the developer for trying to flesh out his game but these never quite manage to ditch that tacked-on feeling to expand game time. If you can pick this up for around $2.50 and have a soft spot for really offbeat titles, Landlord Simulator could…

It's terrible. There isn't much more to say. Might as well put $5 on red because you'll have more excitement with that than this game. Been looking for a landlord/property manager simulator for some time, and I get this tries to be that, but it's just horrible. Graphics aside, it's just a terribly boring game. Running around chasing nonsense is what it should be called.

Not kind of satisfying progression, no empowering feature, the map is difficult to make use of, there is no point in playing at all. Who want to own a town in a static and unrealistic game? The interiors of the houses don't even fit the outside. There is no stairs, nothing you can change in three dimension. The NPC seem completely useless and pointless to interact with but without them, this could barely be called a game. This is not a simulation. It's just Minecraft's graphics applied to a poor command line program. There is no crafting, no interacting, no day/night cycles, and overall, nothing anything remotely interesting. I have played it for 30 minutes, and I..., ok let's say something positive : the music was nice. The NPC looked cute. That's about it. No, this is not worth paying for. I'd even say, it's worth getting paid to test. Since the state of this game is that of an (way too) early beta.

It's a collection of bad mini games plus a very basic management sim. You can adjust rent a bit and decide how much ingame currency you want to invest in repairing houses, but that's it. You can save money by repairing things yourself (another minigame). Every single minigame is a boring time sink - you mostly run around on a timer, searching for stuff. The "sort parcels at the post office" and "whack-a-mole to repair a home" games are the only exceptions, and those are even worse than the "search half the map" minigames. Only recommended to people who are looking for a mind-numbing way to waste their time.
