About Lantern of Worlds - The First Quest
Lantern of Worlds - The First Quest is an RPG inspired by West-European fairytales and mythology, and based on older games like Quest for Glory and
Eye of the Beholder.
Lantern of Worlds - The First Quest tells the story of how a great tournament is announced in the royal city of Idunia. The winner of the tournament will be named the new Royal Adventurer, hero and protector of the people.
Many villages and towns have send their best and bravest to compete, and you are one of them, strongest and most powerful of all the young men and women of your village.
But before you are allowed to compete, you must prove yourself worthy, and to do so, you have been given the quest to investigate the forest of Myrr, a dangerous and mysterious place. Several woodsmen have gone missing in the forest recently, and surrounding villages report strange lights and sounds coming from its depths.
Find the cause of the disturbances in the forest of Myrr, and your place at the royal tournament will be assured!

Story

RPG Maker strikes again! Lantern of Worlds - The First Quest is one of hundreds of low effort RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." This dismally failed RPG Maker kitbash eschews the usual 2D retro pixel JRPG engine that RPG Maker does so very badly for an even worse "e-book" style presentation with a few godawfully bad JRPG style combats... a slew of really mediocre artwork, too. But don't worry, RPG Maker fans, the high school anime club dropout fan-fiction cringe writing is there in full force. I wonder why this was a complete and utter failure? As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development. Lantern of Worlds - The First Quest — атмосферная визуальная новелла с элементами RPG. Сюжет разворачивается в магическом мире, где игроки выбирают путь героя, влияя на развитие сюжета. Графика стильная, но не шедевр; звуковое сопровождение уместно, добавляя эмоций. Игра линейна, с минимальными ветвлениями, что может разочаровать искателей сложных выборов. Подойдет поклонникам жанра с любовью к атмосфере и мистике. Однако повторяемость и простота механики ограничивают долгосрочную привлекательность. Для первого эпизода — достойно, но ожидания от продолжения могут быть высокими.
Tons of fun so far! Gives that nostalgic feeling that many long for when playing old school RPGs.
